So is Roach injured again? I was wondering why he wasn't playing tonight (wasn't at home to check). Agree on Rampaul though.

So do you think any of Gabriel/Bess/Roach/Holder have the potential to lead the attack? They are all fairly young though I suppose.

The Windies seem to be churning out the spinners, Shillingford (sp?) in particular so perhaps that could work in the short to medium turn. From what I've read from yours and other posts I don't think batting will be the main concern in the future, especially with Gayle and Sarwan still relatively young, but mainly the bowling. it must also be of concern that Roach keeps getting injured.
Yeah it's always the same injury as well. His ankle has a lot of stress put on it due to his bowling action.

I see Holder as a future leader of a test attack but the others are so far away from being ready it scares me. If one of them has a tearaway FC season we could see them soon but so far that simply hasn't happened.

How old are the others. Holder is only 18 still right

edit Just had a look then. They're all still young so plenty of potential in the future. How would you rate Shillingford? His first class average is very impressive

Shillingford turns the cricket ball far more than any other finger spinner in the Caribbean. He had a flawed bowling action when he was 17 and so was called for throwing by Bucknor. He has since corrected those flaws and I have seen him on tv where his action looked absolutely fine. But he has never quite gotten rid of claims of a flawed action etc and I think that is why the selectors have been slow to pick him.

"Mike want changes"? you must be mad!! , as far as i'm concerned these players running around in the great WI shirt ARE NOT CRICKETERS!!, the same old clowns have been letting us down for years so why would things be any different now? i was calling for changes before we played Zimbabwe so that we could see if the youngsters could cut it and in turn create more options for this series but that notion was ridiculed by certain posters 8-) , we might not have a choice now because a white wash on home soil is simply NOT acceptable.
quota wash surely?

You're having far too much fun with this .

The latest news is that Dale Richards has been flown is an emergency addition to the side for the 2nd ODI.

I actually think that's a good decision by the selectors. Something had to be done at the top of the order and Richards does at least thrive on fast bowling.

Let me clarify that I'm not for dropping Gayle, Sarwan or Shiv anytime soon. It's the Fletcher, Ramdin, Deonarine, Miller's of this World that need to step up big time and provide support to the men that have been carrying our ODI side for far too long. At the moment they are proving unworthy and hurting all West Indian fans with their incompetence.

The only thing that keeps me going through these few matches is the thought that soon we will have Barath, Braithwaite and Lil Bravo providing us with much joy and entertainment as they take the places of those mentioned above.

The big 3 have absolutely outstanding ODI records, dropping them would be madness.
Well i never said we should get rid of Gayle, Sarwan and Shiv in this series, but at the end of the day if we're only making "one or two changes" what difference does it make?!! 8-) we'll fail as usual, the likes of Dale Richards isn't the answer either!!, it seems like when things get bad we turn to the same useless fools who have failed us already i.e Morton, Hinds, Dowlin etc, it's time to promote the youngsters man.

Like this SA team a lot more. AB is capable behind the stumps, obviously not of Boucher's caliber but adds the extra batsman. One change I would make is bring in Petersen for Duminy who is struggling a lot. Other than that, the bowling looks good. McLaren is a much bowler than Albie and although he leaves a hole as a power hitter, Miller looks like a better prospect. There's also Parnell to come back from injury.
Yeah was going to say that. Definitely an improvement to the side put out in India. Agree on JP, looks shot, no confidence, every side and seamer, no matter how slow is targeting him with the short ball and he has no answer. Not bowling as well, so Virus might as well step in. Lopsy is dreading water as well, needs some variation. Langers or Parnell in for him. Happy with Botha and McLaren higher up in the order.

Still difficult to judge the side though, Windies are so bad it’s untrue. Pop gun attack and a one man show with the bat.

This side will always be poor selection when JP remains and keeps Vindiar, Rossouw, Elgar and Malan out I mean one of them just broke B Richards record for highest domestic total and two scored 1000+ runs in an SA domestic season compared to JP who has scored like what? 50?

Why is he dreading water?:-O

Malan?- do you mean the one who has qualified to play for the poms?

Oh yes I knoq he is young but it would appear that SA alone has players that move abroad the moment they dont make national team at age 20 rather get him in the team then let him play for Eng

I still have hope for Lopsy probably as much as Parnell. It's interesting what you said about variation because he looks like doing that all the time, maybe too much, especially in his pace and types of slower ball. He loses his line a lot as a result.

South Africa are 31/0 from 6 overs. Cricinfo says South African openers start slowlly..

Yes its true I harldy watch T20 matches...but this makes me feel as if I have missed 20 years of international cricket.

I remember last year Gautam Gambhir had scored a 40 ball 60 and commentators were saying he was slow

Morkel's having a good tour. Aside from the no-balls he's having a fantastic year. Let's hope nothing goes awry.

 Gone crazy and he was dropped on nothing or next to nothing. Windies should take this now.

Same old story with Steyn and Morkel. Once someone gives them tap they don't know what to do. Missing Langers badly, just rank death bowling. Give Kallis the ball.
