You and Sri Lanka would both be lucky Jason. I don't think Jayasuriya will be able to pick up four if Murali hasn't snagged a wicket yet. But I think once the breakthrough is made and Gibbs is dislodged a couple of quick wickets could fall.

Career saving knock from Gibbs
Gibbs is unreliable and inconsistent. Keeping him in the side is a gamble. As this is the case for him for quite a while now, I think we should be looking to leave him out of the side permanently.

...At least credit to him for having the courage to tour as opposed to some others in SA who decided to hide behind injury for fear of premature termination of their Test career or a long lay off had their poor form continued !!
This statement is a mystery to me. If names were named it might make sense. The two that come to mind are Kallis and Smith. Both have had to have operations so I doubt the injuries were faked. Kallis' injury has been a long time one but it has only been taken care of now. Maybe because he was so necessary to the side. Now the op. has become urgent. Smith got injured during his holiday. Accidents happen.:)

Damn Gibbs, I needed Amla to score heavily for my Fantasy Cricket. Herschelle the indecisive bugger ran his partner out.

Ashwell Prince in now, batted quite well in the first innings, be interesting to see if he can help Gibbs build a good lead.

That must have been pretty convenient for him.
Accidents are convenient? Especially excruciatingly painful ones? Have you ever torn ligaments?

Yes, and in my ankle too. Hurts when you actually tear the ligaments but a couple of days later it doesn't hurt, just swells up quite a bit. Admittedly I don't play international cricket so I'm not sure how much strain would actually be on it.

If indeed its his ankle he must have damaged Talo-fibular part of lateral ligament (on lateral side of ankle) . The medial side of ankle has a ligament called Deltoid ligament , which could also be damaged , but is a less commoner injury.Usually the injuries are sprains, and management is essentially conservative , ie rest / support bandage / ice etc. Recovery can be 2 weeks to 4 weeks.

If he needed surgery , then he must have torn the ligament out right . *That's from my medical knowledge of ankles*:p

SA lead 192 . Already an unassaible position 350+ lead and SL will pay for their poor Team selection very dearly !

SA have really been the better Team in this Test apart from the first session loss of wickets on Day 1. And that too despite missing Kallis. (Smith's absence IMHO strengthens SA rather than depletes it, but thats my personal view and I am glad I am not in the vicinity of JOT 1 when I say this ! Even if she were a non violent person ! )

Murali nails Gibbs . 4/161

Gibbs unlucky to miss out on a well deserved hundred . Career saving it should be. But Boeta deserves position in Team. I wonder if its at the expense of Amla ?

Not when Hall replaces him, it doesn't. Hall may be an OK allrounder in Saffie conditions, but a Test-class opening bat he is not.
