NZ ahead ATM but SA can pull it back with a couple of early wickets tomorrow.

Looking forward to an unlikely meme hundred from Patel tomorrow. We deserve to Singh another team at some point.
Can't imagine how heartbreaking it must've been to have India on the ropes at home and then get bailed out by a hack with the bat.

Oh wait I can, Wellington.

SA were probably 100 runs short of were they wanted to be.... having watched the highlights I`m pissed at Bavuma he was batting well looked in control and then got out stupidly trying to be clever. He is starting to turn into a guy who gets in and does not convert, had a great chance here. We do not need another Duminy in the team, one is one to many.

Game favouring NZ, but if the ball is still reversing tomorrow and we can get Kane early then maybe we could get a 50 odd run lead. It`s actually been a nice competitive test match if not the most exciting one.

Omg, yes.

Have to give credit where it's due to Raval - scored about 40 more than I was expecting and mostly looked solid enough.

Great day overall for black caps apart from Taylor injury.

If they get kane early tommorow then sa back on top again though especially with our unproven middle/lower order (watling aside)

Watched the first few overs and then fell asleep. Day 1 antics caught up with me and had to get to work this morning so watched the end of the last sessions.

Great fight back by New Zealand and arguably are in front right now.

Tomorrow morning we need to bowl as well as NZK has done on the first two mornings to see if this is a morning wicket.

Forecast for Saturday has improved but Sunday isn’t looking good. Think you are going to need 5 days to force a result here as the wicket is flat, and will probably just get slower, and if NZ get any sort of lead, I suspect South Africa will just block and look for the draw.

How do you figure that? NZ for all intents and purposes are 4 down, (with Taylor likely to be out for the series) and still 130 runs behind with the prospect of batting last on a turning deck...

I'd say at best it's evens stevens for NZ, with SA probably having a slight edge.

So if Taylor is out for the series who replaces him? Seems likely that Guptill isn't fit, given he didn't turn out for Auckland this week. That leaves Munro (and we all remember what happened the last time he fronted up against Morkel and Philander in test cricket), Bruce or Broom. Or maybe even Brownlie?

They're going to be reluctant to go for the young guy when we already have Nicholls at 5, unfortunately. Please Guptill, get fit, otherwise I think it will be Broom, Brownlie or maybe Ronchi. If Broom hadn't had such an awful ODI series it would be him imo, but as it stands it's hard to say.

Damn. Apparently Broom and Brownlie are the two names in consideration - not inspiring. Don't know who I'd prefer, though I guess Brownlie has a little more form behind him. Bruce and Munro also mentioned as close but not this time. Wonder if they might consider Anderson too, not that I'm particularly inspired by that either.

Or, we could just be brave/silly and go all-roundersville with Nicholls 4, Neesham 5 and CDG 6 .
