At some stage in these chases the batting team always gets a partnership together and then it's toil for the bowling season to gradually buy wickets.

^^ What I keep expecting to happen.

Wow South Africa's top order this series..

Look forward to the final edition of de **** vs Patel, battle for the ages.

For all the talk of whether Bavuma deserves to play for SA, he's been pretty clearly their most consistent batsman on this tour.

NZ have built pressure really well here. Gone perfectly according to script today.

Of course, this is where South Africa's batting really begins..

Patel's been too straight to de Kock the last few times he's bowled to him IMO. He really needs to get it pitching on off at the straightest.

Bad out from Bavuma..... but this entire tour has been about our top order and by and large it has failed, we have consistently been 50-100 for 4/5 and got out of a scrape because of good rear guard actions and a decent bowling performance. This was always on the cards. Credit to NZ for keeping the pressure on.

About our only chance now is a quick 200+ from QDK......

5 wickets left, last established batting pair left for SA - Faf and de Kock, trailing by 114

innings defeat !?

This tour could have gone so differently for NZ and SA..... that 2nd Test was SA 95/6 in first innings still 160+ behind... we got a 80 run lead from that point and NZ collpased in a silly fashion 2nd innings. NZ let us off the hook and then stuck their head in a bucket.
