Don't agree about Ryder and Brownlie, Ryder has been playing like arse anyway and Brownlie is pretty unproven apart from a couple of decent games in Aus.

Ryder? Er the guy averages mid 30s with a SR north of 90 in ODI's saying nothing of his match winning innings against SA in the WC quarter final less than 12 mths ago.

In regards to Brownlie, you're right that he's unproven in the shorter form, but he's a proper batsman who will far more likely cope with the SA pace bowlers than de Grandhomme or Ellis will.

Can definitely see us getting dominated without our best ODI batsman. Guptill/Nicol and McCullum haven't done much against quality bowling attacks. Then there's the inexperience of Williamson and Latham.

Spectacular runout of Amla from Guptill - Amla looked in very good touch so thats a huge breakthrough. And as I type, SA 2 down already...if we get AB in the next couple of overs, that'd represent an excellent start for NZ.

Mills just confirming my belief that he is only good (albeit superb) in overs 1-35 of ODIs.
This is true.

There's just something I like about Guptill, even when he plays some horrible shot in the first half hour of a test match to be out for 3. Fielding is definitely a major bonus.

That's bull****, I understand giving it not out because there isn't enough evidence, but have a look at the 2n d angle ffs. Looked out.

Great over from Southee, Levi gone! Certainly not complaining about a scoreline reading 3/38 after the powerplays against this strong looking SA lineup.
