haven't been following much of odis recently but can anyone tell me what the new rule changes for the odis have been that has seen the scores come down to regular levels?

Are they still using a new ball from each end? (I know that 5 are now allowed in the deep in the last 10 overs.

basically,

>no catching fielder in 1st ten overs is required

>batting power play discarded

>five fielders permitted outside the circle in last ten overs

Still wish they would just go back to the original first 15-overs, then spread the field with those same 5 fielders outside the circle for the remainder of the game. Nothing was ever wrong with that - ICC and their crazy changes.

Whatever it takes!!!
It made the game too predictable. Ideally I would like to see bowlers who take wickets rewarded with additional overs on their quota in both LO forms. That will make it a lot more interesting than just field restrictions all over the place.

People just like to complain about everything don't they? The new field restrictions are great, it makes slogging in the final overs risky, as it should be. It'd be better if it was coupled with pushing the ropes back though.

yeah, make no mistake, these rules are better than anything we have had in ODIs so far. I am just saying that if you reward bowlers who take wickets, then there will be captains who will attack batsmen, esp. new batsmen which will make the game interesting on its own more than any enforced fielding restrictions.

I never thought it was too predictable, we had many great ODI games under those restrictions. And yea along with going back to original rule, I've always wanted them allow 2 bowlers to to bowl 12 overs.

"It’s not like we’ll win every game. It’s not like we don’t get out if it spins, we do get out. There have been situations when it has spun and we have been in difficulty. It’s still a sporting wicket. We tend to think that sporting wicket means grass on the wicket, but it’s not like that. Sporting means where you get challenged. I would call this (Chennai) track as sporting track. Who got the wickets? For them it was the pacers, and for us, spinners and seamers.” - MS Dhoni

I just love the way this guy talks...such an anti thesis to the media which tries to sensationalise or over dramatise everything, and he just responds in the most matter of fact way.

And usually makes a lot of sense too. You can disagree with his reasoning but it is perfectly obvious he puts some good thought behind his decisions.

Excited about the game. Think India will win. Spinners will pwn them. Heard it will be a spinning track..
