I din't even say he wasn't world class, because I don't really think there's an agreed definition of 'world class'. I said that he wouldn't be picked for a world XI, which is obviously true.

He's not in the top 10 batsmen in the world right now, and if you want to argue with that assessment you should first argue with the ICC rankings which have him at 26th

He's definitely way better than the 26th best batsman in the world though.

The thing that stands out with Rahane is the kind of innings he's played at #5, so while he may not be on the highest run scorers list or the one with the best average, he's played some knocks as good if not better than anyone rated higher than him. Which is why I never understood the whole moving him to 3 thing, he's perfect @ 5.
