It doesn't matter who they have in their attack or who they're playing. The other team will nearly always have a partnership of sorts, especially on a pitch like this. It's not like Flintoff will cut out all partnerships before they get to 43.
I didnt say they would break the partnership. However, there has to be an element of attack and breaking up the rhythm of the partnership.

You have to be able to change things up for 10 over periods as a bowling side. I never said it guaranteed success, just that its important to be able to do it and England dont have the bowlers to do it.

The point I think is that there comes a time in an innings when you need a bowler to go all out and bowl a spell as flat out fast as he possibly can. Lee does it. Flintoff can do it. None of these 3 England bowlers can. And that really is a problem.

Hum, yeah. I think they're hoping Broad can become the bowler to do that but at the moment he's nowhere near it. South Africa are doing a good job of having de Villiers face Panesar and Prince the seamers. They both look fairly comfortable.

And thats the point. A guy that may not automatically take a wicket but make it tough and get rid of those comfort levels.

True but all he had to do was get his feet between the pitch and the stumps. Really simple. If the ball turned ridiculously and hit off stump then i'd agree he was unlucky. But knowing that Panesar was capable of the occasional big turner, he should have just kicked it. No effort and zero risk required.
Fair enough, but i think you are being a little unfair on Mckenzie nontheless. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but IMO, the ball did turn ridiculously from way outside leg to leg stump within the space of a couple of feet. If Shane Warne had done the same bowling around the wicket (or over the wicket in Warne's case) he would have been proud.

It was an excellent delivery, no doubt about that. But if McKenzie were facing Shane Warne, with Warne's reputation, he would definitely have kicked it away.

Woouldnt say it was an excellent delivery tbh. Would have been if he was actually trying to do that, but idont think that was intentional.

This is where England need to be able to throw the ball to someone with a bit of an edge and let them charge in and try and manufacture a wicket. Everything is getting rather preictable and stale.

Unfortunately they dont have that type of bowler.
Hopefully with Jones and Freddy coming back into the picture, we'll have an attack to rival 05 again in the near future. Thinking about it this is probably the first time in a long time Fred,Jones, Harmy and Hoggard have all been playing cricket, yet none of them are in the side!

How the hell does Panesar keep picking up wickets from piss poor batting? It is like there's a great big magnet concealed in his turban that drags out the schoolboy cricketer in Test batsmen.

It's just unreal.
