Top session all round, it leaves the game far more evenly balanced than it appeared an hour ago - edge still to the Republic though.

Terrific partnership. In fact if England were 3 down I would say the game was almost even. We should see spells from Philander and Steyn shortly after lunch. If these two can survive those England will be in a decent position.

If England don't hand any more wickets on a plate it should be a pretty thrilling last session. We're relying on English batting competence to get it that far though, which is not something you want to hold out for. The new ball should be the decisive phase if England surprise everyone. The old ball phase should be England's time to control proceedings. The new ball has taken wickets throughout the match.

England missing Bopara here.

Far closer than 3/20...

EDIT: I fully expect the Saffas to win, but England looks like they're giving it a shot.
look I'm a big fan of one day an odi like chase will be successful on the last day of a test. It will happen. But not today, not with only prior and the tail to come. Not against these bowlers.

These two are lucky to still be there to begin with. It's all happy now, but if they were to close in, bumholes would pucker.
