Did Amla just refer to Kallis as "Jakes", twice?
Its Jacques nickname

Oh please. You wallopped us good and proper - try and enjoy it without the chippy crap eh?

And actually 95% of English supporters always said this could go either way. A couple were doing their usual pre-series banter, which you didn't read as such because you're new around here.
Relax chap, it wasnt just here, and please if the Proteas lost from that position you know what will be said on here.

You're a bundle of positivity again and I don't see the point for posts like this.

Can't remember anyone saying they were sooooo much better at all, I thought most people when put the side against each other man for man, they were very close, with the present side just coming out on top
It did happen mate, but you'll forgive me if I cba to dig it out. Not everyone, by any means, but it some.

As for your first bit, it's an opinion mate. No-one's forcing you to agree with it or even read it, but part of the point of these forums is to say what we think about goings on cricketwise. That is the point, period. If I'm wrong and we turn this series around, then great.

That's a paddlin'.

Fair play to SA, have absolutely shellacked us. Hats off.

When was the last time we came back from a 1-0 deficit to win in a home series? Only time away I can recall is SL in 00/01.

We recovered from 1-0 v the Windies in 2000, but that was a 5 test series.
Yeah, sorry, meant in a three test series.

Has it ever been done?
New Zealand away in 08, can't think of any at home.

Mighty win, enjoyed every ball :)
Hopefully it wil make England fight back strongly and the second test is going to be less one-sided.
And Trott should grow a beard.

If we bring in Moeen Ali we'll have a better beard than Amla anyway, and judging by his last match a great spinner (forget the rest of his career).

All about opinions yes, just don't see the point in being so needlessly doom and gloom, just as bad as over hyping them imo which you seem to not like, each to their own then isn't it.

No doubt about it, Trott needs to pull his finger out and grow a better beard, it's what England lacked this test.

I think so.

And I'd be disappointed if anyone who I rated (which includes yourself fwiw) seriously took umbrage at my getting this stuff off my chest. It's just what I do in these situations and as the wife and kids aren't interested then CWers are the next best option. As it happens I do genuinely believe what I wrote last time, but if people prefer to see things differently, then so be it.

It certainly would have been if they'd lost from where they were this morning. :)

Anyway, a genuine question for you. Given how well they've shown themselves capable of playing in this test - and they have been quite superb - htf have they managed not to win so many series at home? I'm not having a pop. I genuinely wonder how they haven't put clear daylight between themselves and number 2 in the rankings.

Forgot about the bearded man from Midlands. What a contest would that be! The Worcestershire Beard bowling to The Mighty Beard of Durban. A situation when face to face gets really hairy :D

Amazing performance. All they need to do is bat out on a flat pitch against a painfully mediocre wrist spinner and they ****ing hand over wickets 4 to 9. ****ing shower of ****e. Not one or two wickets. Six. On the ****ing trot.

Do what any self respecting person does when their team gets beaten - Go next door and kick the **** out of the neighbour's dog.

Just SL isn't it in the last 3 years or so for SA at home.

Do you think Ravi has done enough to be selected for the next test?

Holding's right, we bowled excellently on similar pitches all winter long, what was different this time, it's as though they didn't adjust to it.

It will be about right though that the first time the bowlers haven't bowled well and one will get the boot.

Better batsmen?
SL at home are no mugs, even though that's a factor but from watching them in action the past few years, when it's doing nothing they bowl that real accurate nagging 4/5th stump line and build pressure from choking the run rate, just didn't seem to be able to do that this test match. Bit too loose and too many freebies on the whole.
