I dindt see the match only the photos at cricinfo and the OZ kit looked pretty impressive "different and refreshing" .

Just caught the SA innings on Sky. Jeez, that was the shell to end all shells from Martyn, wasn't it?! In terms of effect in mattered nowt, but 'twas a sitter. :p

Interesting to see Kallis teeing off from the word go too, shows he can do it when the mood takes him. It did annoy me that Slater was pronouncing his first name as "Jarks" instead of (as I'd always imagined it was pronounced) "Jark" tho.

Oh, and why is Hopes called "Catfish"? If it was explained I missed it.

Thats an absolutely brilliant bit of cricket photography though.. Shame about the shirt, what a killer..

its amazing when people find a winning formula and just go and trash it, i'm thinking about England kits as well, or maybe I have odd taste..

Yeah that would be a good idea. That said, I don't think we should get too carried away with Twenty20. I certainly don't want to see it replacing ODI's or Tests,
My thoughts entirely, and you can bet your bottom dollar they will start taking over tests and ODI's..

Twenty20 is fun, but money always always talks in the end.. And there are only 365 days in a year.. Something has to give..

I agree the kits didn't look to easy on the eyes.

I was watching sunrise and someone said that blue and yellow are our federation colours, so maybe that was behind the color choice or the fact that they didnt wan't to get mixed up with the SA uniform, but there's has a lot more green then the australian one.

Indeed.

Official Gabba Attendance Records
47,096 Second Rugby League Test
Australia v Great Britain
3 July 1954

(research stolen from MattO at Rleague Forums..)
Since the redevelopments the GABBA can only hold 42,000 people.

38,894 is the largest attendance to a match at the Gabba since redevelopments commenced in 1993 and the GABBA became an all-seated stadium.

It pips the Aus vs Lions union match.

The Channel Nine commentary team are hopeless when it comes to pronunciation...Healy couldn't even handle Zondeki.

When Mark Nicholas was interviewing him he said it was something to do with his ability (or inability) to grow facial hair.

Yeah they were right, blue and yellow is actually Australia's national colours, we just adopted green for some reason instead...

Martyn's catch was unlucky. It was a monster and he did almost everything right. Just didn't stick. Now Smith's...that was a dolly. I'll never forget the roar that went up when that ball hit the ground.

I had a great night. It was a brilliant spectacle and the most fun I've had in a crowd ever. The first day of the 2002 Ashes still takes the cake for the best cricket I've seen but Martyn's hitting was superb. Plenty of action on the ground and in the stands aswell. One of the shots of the night from Pollock (that six over extra cover) was missed by most of the crowd who were observing the most brilliant of mexican waves.

The most fun I've ever had at a cricket game. Would have loved to have seen a close finish aswell.

Useless Fact #456: Green and gold were adopted because of the wattle, which is native to Australia and is possibly our national plant.
