A loss is a loss. Dunno maybe steyn was being too pessimistic about his chances to get wickets over Peterson keeping it quiet.

However I'd expect Peterson to keep it quiet and steyn to bowl out to happen more often than steyn getting 2+ wickets he needed to protect someone bowling the 50th and that person not choking to the tail.

Clarke isn't really a power hitter though and with his injury record there is no guarantee he will be much better than what is playing. Johnson in ODIs will be a force in Perth etc. but like Steyn can be very leaky on flat decks. SA's balance probably will improve with Duminy but their death bowling is horrible and batting inconsistent.

Yeah it's a hell of an ask for a spinner to bowl one over at the death with the game really up. Margin femoral error is zero, and he bowled a decent enough over tbf.

Can't believe how often SA just loaded up into Faulkner's zone though. If he'd muscled balls through there by I providing against something outside off I could understand it, but so much was middle and leg.

They bowled some tosh at Forkers that's for sure. Abbott, who had bowled brilliantly, lost his length. By the time Steyn gave way to Petersen the game was decided.
