Part of the reason why I don't have much interest in T20 is because the 9 commentators are such wankers. Ten did a much better job in the Big Bash IMO.
I agree. The tension in last nights game was nearly ruined by the commentary which was little more than cliche repeatedly yelled down the microphone. It all gets too nauseating after a while.

Mate, you'd kick the **** out of the young bloke for playing a shot like that in this position and no-one would blame you

Some of these guys need to be dropped pronto and not selected again until they have shown some responsibility
It's T20. You're meant to be irresponsible.

Fmd Forkers. Why?

What's funny is Brayshaw saying he didn't need to do that, having said of Maxwell "It doesn't matter, that's the way he plays".

****. He may be the most punchable of the heavy bags tbat make up the commentary team.
We probably don't agree on much so its nice to see we have something in common. All we'd need is a pair of baseball bats and a coin to see who goes at him first.

In a 20 over match you cannot have two batsman playing responsibly. One batsman should work the ball and one batsman should go for boundaries. In an ODI there is time to settle the play, but in the shortest form of the game there is simply no time because momentum is everything.

And so Australia got it's tactics right. White was obviously instructed to play the anchor-man, and all the other batsman were instructed to keep the momentum going by hitting boundaries.

If Maxwell is to be castigated then it is for not hitting the boundary when he should have. The ball was of a good length, and 'in the slot'. It should have disappeared by rights, and consequently put Australia well and truly on-top at that stage.

Actually acknowledging Meg Lanning's existence would be a step in the right direction, FFS.

- Remove Brayshaw, Healy, Lee and Slater and you'd improve it dramatically.
- Tell Mark Nicholas to be less of a **** and actually focus on analysis and he'd improve dramatically.
- Finding a way to surgically remove Warne's ego would make him a half-decent commentator IMO.

I like to listen to Bill Lawry commentating, but to have 2 or 3 Bill Lawry's commentating at the same time would be irritating. And so the reason that the Channel 9 team has worked so well over the years is that the various personalities complemented eachother. Bill was excitable, Tony was laid back, Richie was incisive, Ian was droll etc.

There is nothing inherently wrong with Brayshaw, Healy, Lee, Warne, Tubby, and Slater individually - but put them all in the same spot at the same time and you get GBH of the ears.

Believe it or not, Slater was actually an excellent commentator when he was part of the Fox Sports team. I think a lot of the blame has to go with Nine rather than the individuals in some of these cases. I'm convinced Slater has been told that his role is to appeal to kids.

the difference between warne's commentary in england and over here is huge, he has some decent insights on the game when you get him talking about it, especially when it comes to the technical side of spin bowling

channel 9 just brings out the **** in everyone

Australia Cricket Features: Benaud, Bill and the field of memories | ESPN Cricinfo

Joining Benaud on stage was Bill Lawry, at Nine's cricket launch for a summer that takes in series against South Africa and India before a triangular tournament with India and England and, finally, the 2015 World Cup. Seldom shy of an opinion where Benaud has often sat artfully on the fence, Lawry suspended the warning about skin cancer with a glistening-eyed reminiscence of his own.

"He'd burst through the gate with the shirt open and the Brylcreem and the tan, it was just magnificent," he said. "Forget the skin cancers Richie, you looked beautiful back then."

I have listened to Slats early in his career, and he was fine, yes. Made good points, sounded intelligent and sincere.

I remember Slater being awesome in 2005 for Ch 4, and the same with Warne when he first started...........Ch9 ****s good commentators.
