*Official* Second Test (Lord's, London) 28 June–2 July

Seriously, Australia deserve the 2-0 lead. Playing much better cricket. We had the best of the conditions in this test & tossed it away because we obsessed with playing bazball every single time. For all the crap I give on here, it’s not really working against Australia and I believe a lot of teams will wise up to it. A measured approach needed for the next 3 tests.

I certainly think this is going to be the go to tactic now around the world on slowish, two-paced pitches which are otherwise massive roads. It's just too obviously effective and the full ball too obviously a scoring opportunity to be otherwise.

It's possible, but I wouldn't be too worried. The nature of the game made it extra effective here. In most circumstances the batsmen can just see it off but given "BazBall" and aus being ahead in the second innings they had to try and score as well.

Like I said yesterday, basically you can't score regularly and survive against that tactic. You have to pick one.

You used to be quite a good and insightful poster, I might be going back a while, but not sure what’s happened.
85% of my posts are basically just references to other posts now. If you're not constantly reading the forum you won't get what I'm saying, and if you do get what I'm saying you'll roll your eyes at the repetitiveness.

So it's definitely pretty crap posting, but not actually for the reason you think.

How does that innings compare to the Headingley one? I know you can't exactly divorce the result from it, but was remarkably similar.

Right but on roads the first struggle is to control the tempo of the game. With this tactic you can do that, because it's so hard to score against unless you really go full Stokes and try and hit every ball for six.
