*Official* Second Test (Lord's, London) 28 June–2 July

halba

International 12th Man
"massive tail starting from 6" no. Green and Carey both average 35, more than two of england's dedicated batsmen in Crawley and Pope. If Australia only gets 230, England won't get close, they've shown a complete inability to deal with the Australian pace attack. Lyon missing is also partially compensated for by Smith and Head.
They can bowl fast and short pitched to get Poms out.

Simple Plan A
Starc/Haze goes bing! Baz goes swing, and the deep outfielder e.g. Smudge runs into takes the caaatch! AS shown in the picture.

44 is a long way from bad.
Smith has struggled recently in the 3rd innings by his high standards ..

3 50's and 0 100's in his last 20 tests

If you consider 2014-2017 to be prime Steven Smith ..
He had 7 50's and 3 test hundreds in that 20 test period in the 3rd innings

Might have a lazy twenty on him rectifying that today

Head > Labu's leggies > Labu's meds > Smith's leggies >>> Labu's offies > Smith's offies.

This is the definitive ranking.

Smith and Marnus both ****ing suck at bowling offies unless they have to for a single delivery in a white ball game to get a left-hander off strike and bowl leggies again. I hate seeing them doing it.

nah wtf Smith's leggies are way better than marnus's. Smith was originally picked as a bowler, and his figures are better.

Australia picked him as a dressing room clown with some potential batting 8 and acting as the fifth bowler when he was averaging 50+ with bat and ball in Shield cricket. His 'bowler' phrase is vastly over-stated due to the total prank role he was given.

still much more of a bowler than marnus and a far better one at that

It feels like Australia did the hard yards yesterday and now the sun is out and today is a day for #punishment.

Tbf in a way it might be better for Oz if we bowl them out, but not quickly. They’ll probably figure a draw suits them more than it does us

I’ll be so annoyed if such an entertaining series is dead after 3 tests because of England’s insistence on shooting themselves in the foot.

From an entertainment POV we should probably all be grateful England won both tosses, because in the two sessions they’ve had to bat in cloudy conditions they’ve lost a combined 8/60 odd - yesterdays debacle and that short session in the first test when they lost both openers before it rained.
