*Official* Second Test at the Adelaide Oval

As said above, McGain had a horrible, horrible, horrible test but was otherwise a far better bowler than Doherty. Some players have dream debuts. Others... don't.

All this criticism Marcus North is getting, would Aussies take Greg Blewett over him? Very different players, but very similar records but I don't recall Blewett ever facing as much flack as North. Is that because Blewett's weaknesses were compensated for by being in a much better team?
Quite clearly. At the end of the day, Blewett was part of a winning side, there was never a pressing reason to get rid of him especially given how highly most people thought off him for most of his career. They could afford the luxury of waiting for him to come good, which of course never happened.

Nah - while he wasn't quite good enough Solly wasn't as bad as his figures suggest - Chris Schofield on the other hand ...............
I confess, I never watched Schofield in domestic cricket, and while he was poor in intl cricket, its a bit hard to draw a conclusion on his bowling based on one innings. Salisbury though played 15 tests and I can assure you that he was rubbish in every single one of them. To manage that, really takes something special.

There's no point in an early start tomorrow, we'll make up about 2 overs because Ponting will hold 15 minute meetings with his bowlers before every over.

88 overs on day 2, 55 overs in 2 sessions on day 3. He should be fined.

Trott always wastes a bit of time when he's at the crease in between deliveries. Cook had some problems with people behind the sight-screen so the match was delayed. I don't think day 2 was a problem.

Well we simply have to declare overnight and try and win in what time remains due to the weather. Have a horrible gut feeling that we will be denied by rain.

Whatever happens i can see Australia making multiple changes again to their side like we used to do in the dark days of the 90's.

TBF at least one change is required and has been for a long time now... there are a few injury concerns floating about as well.

Will be sweet revenge for Cardiff imo.

We can just rack up 500+ in each of the remaining tests though and draw 0-0 and keep the win anyway. Not that this Aussie attack is going to get 20 wickets in a match is it, managed 15 in 2 games so far.

I feel really sorry for him, not his fault he has been picked to play international cricket when he clearly isn't up to the job. Like watching a slow humiliating death out there with him and not his fault at all. Not sure whether Ponting or the selectors are to blame for that one but they have obviously got it badly wrong.

After the first day at the Gabba, everyone agreed Doherty wholly deserved those two wickets.....
