Second placed Colts travelled to the PDV Dome to take on a Blue side desperate for a win, after a largely inconsistent start to the season Blue heirachy will have no doubt pinpointed this part of the draw to make their charge in Season XV. Colts were unchanged from their previous game which means there's still no room for Dan Rai in the XI.
Travis Demeza won the toss and chose to bat on a lovely looking day, Blue got off to a slow start with both openers looking patient, it wasn't to be another classical Thamba Mamesh innings though as Greg Thomas picked him up for 8, Richard Langley Junior and Jake Luffman then combined for a 92 run stand as the youngsters showed their more experienced team mates the way on a pretty flat wicket, both posted sharp half centuries before falling soon after reaching the mark, Sean Fuller also fell for an even fifty as his stop start season continued, a big score looks just around the corner for him but he'd be hoping it comes sooner rather than later. The rest of the order fell over without much resistance, even the in form Rob Bowen only posted 15 as Thad Bochat continued his second coming with a bagful of wickets, Bochat who has struggled to get a regular place in the Colts line up for a number of seasons now looked the best of the quicks and finished with the well deserved figures of 4/61. Blue were all out for 226 as Greg Thomas and Tarick Weber also grabbed a couple of wickets each.
Colts started their innings knowing a good showing in first couple of hours would get them into the box seat, Daniel Towns batted bravely as he withstood some hostile fast bowling from Manan Shah and Travis Demeza, the pace barrage was however too much for Bosco Fitzsimmons as the out of sorts wicketkeeper batsman was gone for 22 to Charlie Downes. Marcuss Deane failed to reproduce his form of previous outings at number three as he also got a start but became Downes' second victim, the all rounder was out for 21. Cricketweb XI star Chris Butler then joined his experienced team mate Towns at the crease and the pair proceeded to bat with courage and fire in what would eventually become a 278 run partnership, Butler's 114 reaffirmed his good form ahead of the international matches coming up while Daniel Towns was eventually out for 184 from 409 balls to prove he still has what it takes at this level. Sean Fuller found form with the old ball reversing it all over the place, his skill and precision restricted Colts to a score of all out 425, Fuller finished with 4/50 while Demeza joined Downes in having two wickets apeice.
Despite giving away a hefty first innings lead Blue knew that they were still in the game, the pitch was now at its best and with some in form players and ones that score quickly they could have been forgiven for thinking a win was still on the cards. Mamesh fell for less than ten for the second time in the game to Thomas while moderate contributions from the likes of Luffman, Camps and Fuller were halting Blue's charge. One man stood tall for the home side though, seventeen year old all rounder Richard Langley Junior impressed yet again with a patient knock of 165 from 333 balls. Langley's maiden first class hundred will go down as one of the best of the season and will be hard to beat, the youngster is also now among the leading run scorers of the summer with 324 runs @ 54. It was however too early for Blue to be celebrating, they were all out early on day four for 370, Greg Thomas produced one of his better performances of the summer in taking 4/69. With some 80 overs to go in the match and just 172 runs to win Colts were warm favourites but it was a tricky little target to chase.
It was a case of so close but yet so far for Blue as Colts held their nerve to chase down the runs and take the points home. Daniel Towns and Marcuss Deane fell early in the innings and with the score at 11/2 it was anyone's game, Bosco Fitzsimmons looked in slightly better form but again threw away a good start, when stars Chris Butler and Mike Wilson went it was nearing panic stations for the visitors as 96 runs were still required with only 5 wickets in hand, however it was another of the current generation of talented youngsters Callum Laing that stood up, his near run a ball 64 took the game away from Blue and together with Will Kerr who finished a barely noticeable 34 not out the game was won. Richard Langley Junior re-affirmed his status as a future great all rounder with 3/59. Colts won by 5 wickets.

Red hosted Black in what promised to be an exciting match, Black had made the two changes for the clash including all rounder Blake Donald somewhat unluckily replaced by veteran quick Nath Patrick, Red had a familiar look to it but they needed a change in fortune to turn their season around.
On a day that started with a downpour the start was delayed so it was no surprise that when David Kennett won the toss for Red he sent Black into bat, the decision paid off early when newly promoted opener James Stedman fell to Muhammad Amir, Cricketweb XI represetatives Dan Smith and Andrew Cloete then built a solid platform until Cloete hit a return catch to David Kennett who gladly accepted it, he was out for 53. Smith was the next to go when on 54 he chipped one to cover point where John Heads took a comfortable catch. Josh Ritchie was next in and would eventually go on to become the star of the innings, his 110 was an excellent return to form as he pushed his case for 'A' Team selection against England next week, Ash Chaulk is another hoping to feature in that fixture made 35 valuable runs to help Black make it to 327 all out. Captain David Kennett continued his excellent form by taking 5/90, while part timer Callum Dinnen chipped in at the end taking the final 3 wickets for 18.
Red's reply got off to a horror start when Luff and Mork were out before the scoreboard read 20, the experienced duo of Rob Dauth and David Kearsley steadied the ship as they both posted competent half tons before getting out. It was a pretty unremarkable innings for Red in which their dynamite lower order failed to save them on this occassion, it was only when Heads and Dinnen fell with little impact that Red started to see the match slip away from them, only a quick cameo of 35 from fast bowler David Watt saved them from total embarassment. Neil Pickup produced his best bowling performance of the season to take 4/28 from 18 overs as Red were all out for just 237 meaning they gave up a lead of 90.
Black came out with the intent to bat Red out of the game, captain Dan Smith continued his trend of good second innings performances to post a well made 90 while the rest of the top 4 had little success. It wasnt until the pair of Dan Speirs and Dave Richards came together that Black batted their way into a winning position, Speirs 115 was just his second first class century and the faith shown by his skipper was repaid in stunning fashion. The contribution of Richards cannot be overlooked, normally a number eight the promotion to number seven did wonders for his confidence as he hit his eighth first class hundred in what was his highest ever score, the 131 not out came off only 179 balls and virtually assured Black they wouldn't lose. Black batted on long enough to see Red's skipper David Kennett take another hatfull of wickets, he finished with 6/94 for the innings giving him 11 for the match overall. Black were all out 416 meaning Red had a nearly impossible chase of 507 to win the game.
Red's openers Matt Luff and Hakon Mork did their first job by being at the crease at stumps on day three, although Luff did fall early on the final day it was all about survival by this stage. Rob Dauth however was still looking to keep the scoreboard ticking over and this brought his downfall for 23, David Kearsley joined Mork at the wicket and the two then played out a good chunk of time before Mork was out, he did only make 42 but the 177 balls he saw off to get there was what was most important, Red's young middle order of Rapp, Dinnen and Heads got the wobbles as they limped to tea still needing to bat for another two hours to secure the draw, Sean Bennett came in and played out some impressive bowling and did his job by making it to three minutes before stumps to get out. Through all the wickets though one man stood tallest for Red, the ever reliable David Kearsley batted for over two sessions on the final day to make 84 not out from 280 balls, an excellent knock and Red got a share of the points for fine display on the final day. A final score of 231/7 was 275 runs short of victory but that was never in question.
