Second Innings - 26 September
Cricket Web Red vs Cricket Web Blue
at CW Oval
Scorecard
Ball By Ball
As some pessimists expected, the wicket was too much for an embarrassingly poor Red to handle, as they collapsed for a round century - that's the team tally - to allow Blue to have the last laugh and qualify for the one-day final. With Rob Dauth not listed in the eleven, Red failed to find a rock to build the innings around, and crumbled feebly despite various tactics to overcome the low total.
Electric fielding from Blue helped, admittedly, as did a pair of accurate opening spells from Maina and Collins. Only one wicket actually fell, but some pressure was built, as Red always feared a collapse similar to the one Blue had suffered. And what one fears often comes to pass; the middle order was torture for the home fans, as Matt Luff's comical run out summed up how misfit this Red one-day XI was compiled. When Martin West threatened to rebuild with Martin West, Sudeep Popat struck twice to end the match and complete an excellent bowling effort, where Liam Camps had taken three vital wickets earlier.
Cricket Web Blue 168 all out (42.4)
Collins 38; Clapham 4/49, Amir 2/25
Cricket Web Red 100 all out (38.4)
Luff 26; Popat 3/7 (3.4), Camps 3/27 (8)
Cricket Web Blue won by 68 runs

A fantastic effort from Kyle Wright stopped the Masters' chase in its tracks, reducing Brian Lara to a one-end stickler as his batting order was taken away from him. Celebrations were muted, however, due to recent events in Nixonstown.
The match was really decided after 44 balls, as is often the case in one-day cricket when one of the teams has an on-song bowler. By then Wright stood with three for six, having snared Farhat, Kemp and Das, and the Masters were disrobed at 12 for three. A rearguard effort from Lara and Benkenstein - who was dropped off Wright in the bowler's seventh over - briefly threatened to rejuvenate the Masters' effort, but Hutchinson quelled any such hopes with a fine mid-innings spell, leaving Lara and Benkenstein as lone soldiers against the charge of the Colts. Wright eventually picked up Lara to complete the four haul; it should have been five, ensuring a bonus point win, but Ryan Dunn floored Shane Bond and allowed Tyron Henderson to smash a boundary.
Cricket Web Colts 217 for five
Cole 74*, Hancock 37*; Henderson 2/51
Masters XI 180 for nine (50)
Lara 69, Benkenstein 49; Wright 4/25, Hutchinson 3/30, Dunn 2/36
Cricket Web Colts won by 37 runs
Man of the Match: K. S. Wright (Colts)

A dejected Green side collapsed feebly to Blake Donald, the third in the ranks of spectacular individual bowling efforts today. Donald, admittedly, had more degree of freedom in his play, but the bowling was just as good as exhibited on other grounds around the country.
Green showed the first signs of being unable to cope when Nick Scott edged Donald to a waiting Matt Smith at cover; just three overs had been played, and already the pressure of a high required rate appeared to have been applied. Four overs later, Donald produced a peach to dismiss Ben Read clean bowled - when his next ball was edged by Corrin, even the most faithful of Green fans realised - especially with news coming in from Nixonstown about Red's abject surrender - that Green were not going to a final this year.
Donald picked up a fourth wicket, Dinnen bowled, and from 49 for four the rest was a formality. Rob Malone kept the hope alive briefly, having survived Donald's onslaught, but was caught behind attempting to reverse sweep Mohanan's medium pace, and the match ended with Jack McNamara run out with the required run rate near 25.
Cricket Web Black 316 for three (50)
Stedman 155, Smith D 71; Rose 2/50 (9)
Cricket Web Green 190 all out (44.4)
Malone 79; Donald 4/20 (8), Gelman 2/35 (9), Smith M 2/37 (7.4)
Cricket Web Black won by 126 runs
Man of the Match: B. C. Donald (Black)
