Furball

Evil Scotsman
Absolute bollocks from me in FC.

After a gun debut, I think I've hit about 100 runs in 8 innings. And there's a 50 in amongst those 8 innings.

OD form is a lot better, seem to be developing into a middle order batsman of some promise there, bowling is economical if not penetrative as yet.

Not happy.

Cricket Web Green vs Masters XI
OD - Chef de Groot Trophy - CWBCC Stadium

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Nick Scott reminded the Cricket Web XI selectors of his presence in a timely fashion, with an excellent ton against Masters XI. His knock of 124 not out lasted 136 balls and was unbeaten in the successful chase of 246. Together with Ben Read, the opening partnership scaled the heights of 207, and there were few worries for the Cricket Web Green, who won with almost 7 overs spare. Read was the lone casualty when he pushed forward to Shane Warne on 90 and was given out lbw. But Rob Malone hit 3 boundaries in his brief stay and complemented Scott to the match end.

Earlier Bryce Cunningham and Mat Mitchell shared 6 wickets to restrict the Masters, after they were off to a quick start. Luke Ronchi and Brian Lara compiled an aggressive third wicket stand of 79. But when neither pushed on to the required big hundred, the Greens fought back into contention with some spirited bowling in the middle overs. The pick of the men was Mitchell, the captain, who was penetrative and economical. Masters XI scored 245, all out in the 48th over. And the challenging total was then made to look minute by the powerful Green top order.

Masters XI Innings 245 all out (47.1 overs)
BC Lara 67, L Ronchi 49, JM Kemp 48
MT Mitchell 3-36, BC Cunningham 3-47
Cricket Web Green Innings 247-1 (43.2 overs)
NG Scott 124, BS Read 90, R Malone 17*
SK Warne 1-41
Cricket Web Green won by 9 wickets.
Men of the Match: NS Scott (Green)

Cricket Web Blue vs Cricket Web Colts
OD - Chef de Groot Trophy - Casston Reserve

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Discipline was the aim of the game for Crikcet Web Colts, and their bowlers knocked Cricket Web Blue over for 177 to secure a 75-run win. In all areas the Colts impressed, but with the ball they were particularly outstanding, led by Mike Wilson with 10-1-28-2. The much-celebrated top order crumbled to 17-3, including Sean Fuller with a rare failure, out for 1. And the Blues could not recover from such early woes. Alex Crampton, Pete Young and Rob Bowen all crossed 30, but it was much too little to mount a serious challenge on the Colts total of 252.

That score was set up by a solid, rather than spectacular, team effort with the bat. Chris Butler top scored with 49, as no one crossed 50 in the innings. Rather it was the sum of several parts. And perhaps the most entertaining of those parts was Kyle Wright. The Colts captain hit 2 fours and a six in an unbeaten cameo of 21 that tortured the Blues in the closing stages. It was not quite the decisive innings, but it frustrated the Blues greatly and halted any momentum they attempted to gather.

Cricket Web Colts Innings 252 all out (50 overs)
CR Butler 49, DP Towns 44, WA Kerr 34
LA Camps 4-61, JMP Wilson 2-34
Cricket Web Blue Innings 177 all out (44.4 overs)
PE Young 33, RF Bowen 32*, PE Young 33
MA Hutchinson 3-29, MW Wilson 2-28
Cricket Web Colts won by 75 runs.
Man of the Match: MW Wilson (Colts)

Cricket Web Black vs Cricket Web Red
OD - Chef de Groot Trophy - Pickford Reserve

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Andrew Cloete and Alex Blackman put on 149 to help shore up Cricket Web Black's position at the top of the table with a 7-wicket win at home. Cloete dominated a poor Cricket Web Red attack and ended not out on 95 from 84 balls. But Blackman was not as exceptional, and fairly laboured for 65 balls to score 55. CW Black overhauled the CW Red total a ball into the 37th over.

The Red batting was also an exercise in frustration for the traveling fans. Aside from James Robertson's composed 92, no one else looked truly secure at the crease. Skipper Mørk hinted at big things when he flicked Nath Patrick over square leg for six, but he picked out the fielder at deep midwicket off the same bowler soon after. It was the only wicket for Patrick in the innings, but four other Black bowlers took 2 wickets apiece to restrict CW Red to 211-9. That total was comfortably in range of CW Black, and they avoided a potential upset with ease.

Cricket Web Red Innings 211-9 (50 overs)
JA Robertson 92, H Mørk 21, DA Kearsley 20
NS Pickup 2-28, ZE Gelman 2-38
Cricket Web Black Innings 212-3 (36.1 overs)
AP Cloete 95*, AJ Blackman 55, DP Smith 25
DM Kennett 2-50
Cricket Web Black won by 7 wickets.
Man of the Match: AP Cloete (Black)

Excellent result for us. No stand out performers, but everyone did their job. Pleased with my own performance, and the wicket of the dangerous Fuller is something I enjoyed. Lovely to see our season back on track.

Nice work Malone & Read, I had seven LBW appeals turned down off my bowling! Mitchell's OD bowling average of 60 has come crashing down, who would have guessed.
