Our butterfinger catching nearly cost us the match. Chuffed to get my first MOTM (I think) in this format. Two back to back 10 fors. Well done to Dauth and Gray as well and the bowling support. Should have had the hatrick though. :p

Cricket Web Black vs Cricket Web Blue
at Pickford Reserve

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

As expected, Black dominated, recording an inexplicable 363 for three in freezing cold and gloom at Pickford. The Black bowlers then defended the massive target impeccably, skittling the Blues to 96 for five before letting things go.

After winning the toss, Smith opted to back his openers, despite the lack of some of the greatest stars in the batting lineup. It seemede to matter little. Despite Camps' second over being a maiden - though including four byes - his five opening overs cost 40 runs, with both batsmen reaching 50 before the end of the second powerplay.

Ash Chaulk was caught off a no-ball on 73, the closest Blue got to creating a chance. Runs flowed easily and unstoppably, and it took 43 overs to get the first dismissal - Chaulk bowled for 133. Smith, Blackman and Burge smashed thirteen boundaries in the remaining seven overs, as Camps was taken for 101 and the total ballooned out.

Camps and Fuller gave Blue an initial chance, adding 57 through their first 10 overs, but the bowler Smith came through and had Fuller caught behind with his fourth ball. Camps tried, but his accumulatory game was little suited to the current situation, and he slogged Patrick out to the deep for 54. With Richards and Patrick snaring three wickets in nine balls, Blue were all but defeated, and though there were promising signs from Stephen Young during his 47, Smith and Gough cleaned up easily.

Cricket Web Black 363 for three (50)
Chaulk 133, Stedman 128, D Smith 36, Blackman 25*

Cricket Web Blue 202 all out (47.2)
Camps 54, S Young 47; M Smith 3/29, Patrick 3/35 (9), Richards 2/36, Gough 2/45 (9.2)

Cricket Web Black won by 161 runs

Cricket Web Green vs Cricket Web Colts
at CWBCC Stadium

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Cricket Web Green never got going with their innings, tied down by an early collapse in poor conditions. The chase wasn't academic for the Colts, but ultimately they triumphed, buoyed by a patient half-century from Dylan Cole.

Green chose to bat first - an indefensible decision, as Spinks and Wright exploited the swinging ball to have two men caught in a big slip cordon, and two men caught by return catches. Scott, Corrin, Malone and Reddlapalli were all back in the pavilion by the eighth over, bringing former captain Garven together with debutant Callum Dinnen.

Caution was required, but Green got through the powerplays without losing any more wickets, standing at 71 for four. Yet, despite an excellent fightback from Dinnen in particular, who made 50 before being dropped by Dunn and then setting off for a poorly called single. Garven followed suit the next over, caught at the wicket for 37, and only Rose's 26 stood in the way of an even lower total than the paltry 160.

Bryce Cunningham got an early ball through the defences of Kerr, bowled for ten, but Fitzsimmons and Cole showed scant regard for the demands of the crowd and instead went about scoring the runs at a tad above the rate required. With 72 required off 27 overs, and nine wickets in hand, the game appeared dead as a contest - though Fitzsimmons went out shortly afterwards, and though Corrin and Rose took two wickets each, Colts cruised home with five wickets to spare.

Cricket Web Green 160 all out (47.1)
Dinnen 50; Wright 3/24 (8.1), Spinks 3/28 (9)

Cricket Web Colts 162 for five (44.4)
Cole 57, Fitzsimmons 45; Corrin 2/22 (7.4), Rose 2/37

Cricket Web Colts won by five wickets
Man of the Match: N. B. Spinks (Cricket Web Colts)

Masters XI vs Cricket Web Red
at Casston Reserve

Scorecard
Ball By Ball

Sean Bennett took Red across the line despite missing a number of key players, which made the chase of 173 look much trickier than it should have been. In the end, however, the barrage of boundaries helped Red get across, while Muhammad Amir managed not to get out in a pressure situation.

Red had bowled well at the start, surviving early incisions by Farhat and Das by a couple of good catches, as West sliced into the batting effort and helped the Masters crash to 61 for five. However, Justin Kemp at six showed his talents are not restricted to the free-slog hundred, as he was the only one to deny West, Clapham and Bennett the wicket their pressure deserved. Despite Kemp's effort, the stand of 46 between him and Warne was the highest of the innings, West polishing things by having Saqlain lbw and Bond caught by Kennett at square leg.

In response, Red cruised to 131 for four, with Jamee Gray's fifty the only individual contribution of note. Yet, there was always a glimmer of hope for the Casston crowd, and increasing run rates always provokes silly moves - as Bennett's to run out Ritchie for a dismal 13. With eight overs left, 37 was required for victory, but there was still four wickets left.

Bennett should have been lbw to Odoyo's vociferous appeals, but the next over's hat-trick from Saqlain sent the equation soaring. Suddenly, Red required 34 to win, with only 36 balls left to do it and Muhammad Amir as one of the batsmen. Odoyo charged in - and was brutally smashed. Bennett realised that boundaries was the only way to victory, and through a combination of edges, drives and cuts, he smashed five of them in a single over, reducing the equation to 13 off 30. Amir and Bennett then found the boundary once each in the next over, and with a last desperate edge that evaded Warne's fingers, Red won by a solitary wicket and avoided embarrassment in the face of a low total.

Masters XI 171 all out (46)
Kemp 46; West 4/44 (8), Clapham 2/32

Cricket Web Red 173 for nine (46.2)
Gray 50, Bennett 35*; Saqlain 4/30, Bond 2/32

Cricket Web Red won by one wicket
Man of the Match: S. A. Bennett (Cricket Web Red)

Driving home from the match today, Blue batsman James Wilson underwent a freak motorcycle accident. He was lucky to escape with only a broken pelvis, but will miss 10 matches due to the incident.

Fantastic result for us, and a much needed one. Without Butler and Wilson our bowlers stood up which was excellent to see. Very pleased with my own performance and Spinks continues to impress. Cole having an excellent start to his career and Fitzsimmons performs after impressive grade performances. Really happy to see us back winning after slumping a little last week.

Smitheh Jr is back! Three wickets, mopping up the sorry, sorry tail of his former team-mates. Ooooooh, that feels good.

Hmm, my performances are dropping off a bit lately, will need to focus a bit more. Great to get another win under our belt though, really enjoying this run. :)
