Preseason Round Two
Again, likely full of errors but I can't be bothered to check. Hurriedly assembled.
Cricke Web Green v Cricket Web Blue
CWBCC Stadium
Scorecard
Ball by Ball
The brilliant batting of Dinu DeSilva (73) and Pete Young (57 not out) secured an unlikely win for Cricket Web Blue, who they battled back to chase 273 with eventual ease. After Xavier Rose dismissed Sean Fuller with a stunning exhibition of reverse swing, Young joined DeSilva with the score on 150-4. The required run rate had crept over 6, and Pete Young addressed the situation with the urgency of an offdriven boundary to his second ball.
The sixth wicket stand took shape of 114 runs from 16.3 overs, and for the most part there was little that the Green bowlers could do. The chances came early on in the partnership. First Gundry dropped Pete Young when he had 10, having dropped Stephen (Young) earlier. Rose then missed out on the wicket of DeSilva when Gonzalez failed to hold on to the ball at midwicket. The sailing was smooth from that point on. None of the bowlers operated with any potency, though Rose got DeSilva before the close of the game. The end was not far off though, and it was hurried by Alex Crampton, who smashed Rose back overhead for a four and then a six to go 5 runs past the target.
Earlier Andrew Garven was dropped by Sriram when he had 42 and went on to score 103 from 121 balls. The Blues dropped five catches, including three off Dubb-Lynch. Poor fielding helped the Green batsmen along, but the batting was exceptional in its own right. The final 9 overs produced 81 runs, with Martyn Corrin (27 not out), Tom Halsey (21) and Xavier Rose (12 not out) lending excellent support to their captain. Rose paddled the penultimate ball of the innings for a boundary, and CW Green reached 272-6. A challenging total, but not by enough.
Cricket Web Green innings 272-6 (50 overs)
AJ Garven 103 (121), DY Dubb-Lynch 42 (55), NG Scott 32 (35)
LA Camps 3-61 (10)
Cricket Web Blue innings 278-5 (48.2 overs)
MW DeSilva 73 (72), PE Young 57* (55), S Young 55 (69), LA Camps 48 (65)
TC Halsey 2-40 (10), XPA Rose 2-68 (9.2)
Cricket Web Blue won by 5 wickets.

Cricke Web Red v Cricket Web Under-19
PDV Dome
Scorecard
Ball by Ball
The Under-19s pulled off a stunning win over Cricket Web Red, despite the heroics of Mork and Reddlapalli at the end. Dunn and McNamara were superb in tandem at the end of the innings, helping defend a total of 240-9 against some inspired batting. The Reds got to within 12 runs of victory when they were denied by Dunn.
The hard work was done by Griffen (89) and Arnold (59) at the top of the innings for Cricket Web U-19, setting a platform of 139-1. A couple of Bennett wickets set the effort back, and after a promising 20 from captain Ritchie, the lower order faded quickly. The Reds looked to be on top and on the way to limiting the score to less than 210 when McNamara came to the wicket at 197-8. But there was a near incomprehensible sting in the tail by the batting of McNamara and Kexing Su. The last two wickets produced 43 runs an innings of 12 from 5 balls by Su. The fast bowler lustily dealt with Dave Watt in the final over, hitting a four and an enourmous six. Watt stood in disbelief with hands on head.
The tail end cameos proved the difference in a closely fought game. Sean Bennett struggled to score 41 while Rob Dauth supplied some hints at fluency with his 46. But the wickets were too frequent for the liking of CW Red. At 117-5 the Under-19s sensed a certain chance at victory. When Reddlapalli joined his captain the required run rate was over 7. The captain hit 52 at more than a run-a-ball and dramatically fell to McNamara in the penultimate over. Callum Thompson came to the crease with 22 needed from 10 balls. He and Reddlapalli (55 not out) tried their best, but scored only 5 from the last over when 17 were needed.
Cricket Web Under-19 innings 240-9 (50)
J Griffen 89 (122), AR Arnold 59 (77), ZJ Ritchie 20 (32)
DM Kennett 4-42 (10), SA Bennett 3-28 (8)
Cricket Web Red innings 229-6 (50 overs)
M Reddlapalli 55* (52), H Mork 52 (59), RJ Dauth 46 (62), SA Bennett 41 (79)
EAP McNamara 2-38 (10), Kexing Su 1-19 (10)
Cricket Web Under-19 won by 11 runs.

Cricke Web Black v Cricket Web Colts
CW Oval
Scorecard
Ball by Ball
The most convincing win of the round fell to Cricket Web Black. Brilliance from the Black top order dismantled the Colts bowling attack to chase 253 with 9 wickets intact and more than 15 overs spare. James Stedman scored 115 unbeaten from 101 balls, including 12 fours and 2 sixes. Amazingly Cloete was perhaps better. He only scored 93, but did so at a strike rate of 124 and with 14 boundaries.
All the Colts bowlers went at more than 5 per over, and all but Wilson (0-55) had economy rates well in excess of 6.5. The tone was set early on by the batsmen, who brutally attacked young Thad Bochat. His first 5 overs cost 48 runs. The only casualty of the innings was Ash Chaulk (37 from 33) and even he was only run out.
The anticlimactic end soured a match that looked set to be a thrilling contest. Arunava Das scored 63 runs from his final 49 balls in an innings of 112 not out. At his side for the most part was James Malthus, who hit 7 fours and a six in a 42-ball half-century. All of the main bowlers, bar Richards, made an impression at some point, but aside from Pickup and Gelman none held their shape under pressure. The Colts got to 252-7, then took to the field for some stunning abuse.
Cricket Web Colts 252-7 (50 overs)
AS Das 112* (121), JB Malthus 50 (42), S Jasotharan 29 (62)
NS Pickup 3-40 (10), ZE Gelman 2-39 (10)
Cricket Web Black 255-1 (34.5 overs)
JE Stedman 115* (101), AP Cloete 93* (75), AP Chaulk 37 (33)
Cricket Web Black won by 9 wickets.
