Loving Dev. League cricket at the moment, Blues are on a roll. Liam the star with inspiring bowling and then a quick-fire 50. I don`t think Tom has had a bad match all year, and I`m very happy to be contributing. Volty with three catches not to be un-noticed. Then four mature knocks saw us home, against a good attack.

Aye. Oddly enough, it was the start of the innings that let us down with the scoring instead of the end of it. Sadly we didn't have a bowler who could keep it as tight as Pickup did. No reason to lose all hope just yet, though - OD is just something we're going to have to work on.NZTailender said:

The Black batsmen did not waste Neil Pickup's faith, as fluent half-centuries gave Black a fine start at the CWBCC. Simon Fitzsimmons attacked the new ball with fury, notching up 69 in a little over an hour, while Dan Smith and David Kearsley played fine, measured knocks of 76 and 67 respectively. However, the second new ball gave Green the chance they needed - Black fell from 284 for 2 to 307 for 6, with Bryce Cunningham notching up a spell of 5-2-8-3 and Rose also chipping in by having Mike Wilson caught behind for a duck. Under laden skies on the second day, however, Black fought back through Dubb-Lynch and Wilson, who added 55 for the seventh wicket in between rainshowers before Cameron cleaned up with three wickets to leave Black with four bonus points.
Bowling conditions were arguably better when Green's top order batted, and it showed; Megan Gaukroger had to depart for seven in the sixth over, but her replacement Dhamaka Singh showed his intent by bashing the seventh ball he faced for six. Warwick also got the other opener for 12, but after tea Singh and Scott worked patiently. Singh brought up his fifty by smashing Richards for six over midwicket, then charged him for another three balls later, to show intent. Richards responded by sneaking a ball through the defences of Scott for 57, and a few overs later, Warwick took care of Singh to even up the session.
The morning of day three saw a crucial wicket fall in the very first over; Warwick picked up his fourth of the day as a thin edge from Vaughan ended up in Wilson's outstretched hands, leaving Green five down for 167. Garven brought Green past the follow on target with some gorgeous cover drives, and forged crucial partnerships with Lezama and Rose to bring Green to a somewhat respectable 302. Nevertheless, Warwick's bowling effort was the talk of the ground - the Black seamer finished with six for 92.
Green continued their quiet work, as Rose and Cunningham picked up one opener each with the new ball, and Test batsman Kearsley was removed for 20 after a rash shot went to Scott at mid on. Weber then had Dubb-Lynch with his fourth ball of the day, leaving Black at 76 for 4 - that was shortly converted into 109 for 5 after a seven-ball Malone over cost nineteen runs to Wilson, before he was caught behind off Weber for 26. Malone continued, and his second over was taken for 4, but the third cost nineteen again and he then dropped a catch off Weber's bowling. Blackman was the main culprit this time, as the Black number three contributed a belligerent 98 - Lezama and Rose had the better of him, however, and Rose and Cunningham cleaned up to set up the chase for 277.

The result means Green are without any chance of the league championship, but with three wins they can still qualify for the final.

Dave Watt and David Kennett removed one opener each in their very first over at Goffmouth, and Colts had a horrible start in this crucial match - the loser would be as good as out of the five-day league championship, and would have lost the advantage for a final ticket. Gary Nayak and Dan Towns fought off the new ball threat, but Nick Borcich proved his worth with two quick wickets, and Colts went into the lunch break with the total at 79 for 4, and though Rai contributed a well-struck unbeaten 48, the Colts were still bowled out for what looked like an inadequate total of 170.
However, Kyle Wright fought back. His first twelve deliveries yielded two wickets and no runs, and Dauth and Feeney then followed - Red were 29 for 4, and the good position looked to be thrown away. However, Markus and Dobson showed the way to bat on this pitch - the pair blitzed 100 in a little over an hour, taking Hancock and Comley for runs before the unplayable Wright brought himself on and struck again. Dan Rai then defied the Reds' fans chanting "wheelie-bin" by dismissing Borcich and Bennett (the sixth single-figure score in the innings), and reds closed the day on 158 for 8. Wright closed out the edal by dismissing Dobson and Watt in the morning, ending with seven for 35 and ensuring a two-run lead for the Colts.

However, Dauth and Markus played the spinners with ease, scoring at a rapid rate until Markus was run out for 67 with 96 still required to win. The scoring rates remained high, however, with Dauth surviving a drop on 69 and then hoiking Thomas for six with his next ball. Successive drops off Hancock followed some overs later, with the total on 223 for 4, but Dauth was eventually held by Burke for 82 in the 55th over - leaving Colts with five wickets and 49 runs still to defend. However, Wright floored a return chance off Dobson just before tea Red had cut 22 off the target, and looked strong. However, Comley dug out Stedman with the second ball after tea, only for Dobson and Borcich to steal 14 off Wright's next over and virtually secure the victory. Well take that. Not as much from me and Neil on a supposedly spin friendly pitch but the seamers more than made up for that. The top four really set us up in the first innings but maybe we should have made more, Kearsley enjoyed his promotion to no3. Blackman was Pietersenesque in the second dig and must have run young harry close for mom. Wilson was sublime in the 4th innings.
