I'm personally sick of the profane abuse directed at various people around here. Subtle remarks I'm generally okay with. Cheekiness? Whatever. But when it comes to just being outright disrespectful altogether, then I think it has no place in the Dev League.

Think of it this way - I can imagine a player in country cricket pointing out someone in the other team getting a duck and grinning about it and not getting punished. However if he were to call someone in the other team an insulting and generally profane term, he'd get punished. People questioning the action is just silly as far as I'm concerned.

PS. It wasn't Camps who brought this forward to have action taken against Smith, by the way. I was the one who brought it to the attention of the rest of the CW team captains & CWBCC because, as I said at the start of this post, I'm just tired of it. I'm sure it wasn't this bad in previous seasons, at least not that I remember. We've become lax.
Pffft...lax. We've become too sensitive. What's the worst that could come from the disrespect, a healthy rivalry perhaps? Don't tell me that players don't get away with having a dig at an opponent. What happened with Warne and Irani? Did Hussain get suspended for calling Murali a "****ing cheat"?...I can't remember.

Yes, definitely. Because that's why I read scorecards - to find things to make fun of Smith about. And further to that, I definitely had to search for this one. Hmmm... if only scorecards were compact summaries of results which fit tidily onto one page. Then my baiting would be made so much easier.

Fine, pick out one tiny detail, write a sarcastic response and ignore the rest of my post.

Why would you give him a hard time about it? You went scrawling through the scorecard just so you could point out that he was out for a duck, then you posted it with some mocking remark.
.
I think that fact that one of Smith's mates IRL, Dwyer got him out for duck was why it was posted not that fact that he got out for a duck. If he got out for 10 by Dwyer it probably still would have been posted.

Its good that the board is setting a standard for behaviour on the forums, it been pretty poor this season.

There's a difference between banter and that creates a healthy rivalry, and insults which do nothing for the dev league.

I know that, but that's beside the point, Camps was baiting him.

Let the public decide.
The public is represented by the PA Rep. He is mandated to communicate all opinions on the matter to the panel, so address him with your concerns.

The panel will consist of:

Håkon Mørk (CWBCC)
Liam Camps (CWBCC)
Brendon Goff (CW XI captain)
Neil Pickup (CW Black captain)
Dave Watt (CW Red captain)
Andrew Garven (CW Green captain)
Kyle Wright (CW Colts captain)
Sean Fuller (acting CW Blue captain - for this matter)
Tharmi Loganathan (U-19 board)
Jack McNamara (U-19 board)
Travis Demeza (U-19 board)
Daniel Towns (PA Rep)

Your post is based on that "tiny" detail, since your initial accusation is one of public humiliation. If the intent were public humiliation, I'd surely have to put in a bit more effort than circling an event on a scorecard that was made public hours before.

It was a very abstract bit of baiting if that's the case. I'm more talented than I thought.

No, not necessarily, my main point is that you baited him.

I don't think you guys really get the whole baiting thing - yes, it is bad to bait, but baiting is when [Person A] hassles [Person B] so much that [Person B] becomes abusive towards them. Not when [Person A] says something that [Person C], [Person D], [Person E] and [Person E's dog] wouldn't lose sleep over but [Person B] makes an aggressive response to because that's "just how [Person B] is". That isn't considered 'baiting' but rather 'jibing'. Tends to be more joking than an intention to cause offence.

Camps, no one actually likes the PA Rep.
No one, except the people who voted for him, right? But he's still mandated to communicate whatever the views of the players are, regardless of his stance on the matter.

Sledging is a bit hardcore this season, I agree. Don't mind it myself, what goes around comes around and all that.

Regardless of which, this seems a bit of a blown out of proportion incident, somehow.

He was voted in IIRC, but still, the fact that he has already made his opinion on the matter public surely complicates things. Can't imagine Tim May speaking out against a player he is supposed to be representing before asking for his side of the argument.
