Commentary
It was tussle at the Stadium, but the Reds emerged victorious by a comfortable margin of 3 wickets, despite the best efforts of Kev Goughy. Goughy took two wickets in two balls and all three Red second innings wickets to fall, making up for an ordinary first innings showing and keeping his team in the hunt.
Alas, none of the other bowlers had the same impact, and Gundry in particular could not mimic the work done by his opposite number Sean Bennett in a dire Green second innings showing.
Only 15 runs separated the teams on first innings, and the Greens struggled fiercely the second time around, with only Anthony Lezama standing up again, adding 35 to his first innings topscore of 83. A defiant 40 from Xavier Rose down the order also went a long way, but the Greens could only manage a target of 157 to defend. Bennett tore through the middle order with his legspin, following the early incisions by captain Watt.
In chasing the low target, Mørk and Mamesh played positively before Goughy's double strike. First he rocketed one through the gate to disturb Mamesh's stumps, then found a quick biting delivery to get Dauth caught in the gully off the glove. At 74-2, the possibility of a comeback was remote. But by the time Mørk flicked Goughy to Rose at midwicket, it was 144-3, and Kearsley in particular had played well enough to secure victory.

Commentary
Black almost came unravelled for the second time in as many matches, but held their nerve behind the calm presence of Chris Butler to secure a crucial victory over the Colts. Chasing 224 for victory in their second innings, the Blacks collapsed at the fall of Smith, slipping from 154-2 to 157-6 in the space of a few overs.
Smith had scored his second half-century of the match and was once again one of the mainstays of the CW Black batting, alongside the revitalized Chris Butler. Butler finished the game unbeaten on 84, a fitting follow-up to his first innings 94, though he deserved a century on each occasion.
The importance of Smith and Butler in the Black first innings was as telling as that of Gelman, Nayak and Burke for the Colts. The threesome notched half-centuries in an innings where only two others got to double figures, proving a significant feat in a score of 273 all out.
In return, Black essayed the score of 285 all out. Again Wright was the leading Colts bowler, but Tarick Weber also found sharp form, which he would carry into the second innings and very nearly spin the game decisively for the Colts.
The 12 runs between the teams on first innings proved extremely crucial, given the form of Wilson in the second innings. Bowling largely with pace and accuracy, he kept the Colts unbalanced throughout. The result was a respectable score of 235 all out, but Wilson finished with a personal tally of 8 for 39 - a 10-wicket haul in the match.
Enter the final innings and exit Jamee Gray without scoring. The game was wide open, at least until the explosive play of Smith set the pace back for Black. The real turning point was between Butler and Hoy, however. Hoy especially played a huge role, given that
the Blacks had lost their last 5 wickets for just 1 run in the first innings. On this occasion, though, Hoy played well enough with Butler to add the final 67 runs needed for victory.
