Andrew Cloete was again in magical stride, powering Blue to a 22-run win over CW Black. Cloete faced 99 balls for his even hundred - his second ton in as many innings - and shared an opening stand of 176 with Liam Camps.
The Blues could only push on to 269-7 from the impressive platform, however, as Chris Butler was sharp enough to take 4 for 50 with his medium-pace dobblers.
In response, the Blacks were sharp early on. Camps then snared Smith with a slower delivery and the tone of the game changed sharply. None of the Black batsmen scored with any great freedom from then on, until Nathan Hoy clobbered 20 not out from 11 balls at the end.
But Hoy ran out of partners and was robbed of the opportunity to score the 23 runs required from the final 4 balls of the innings.

Commentary
The Reds cast aside their batting demons of the last match, recovering from 16-2 to attain a tiny target of 125 runs and beat the Colts. David Kearsley was out mere balls before victory was achieved, but Rob Dauth saw the game to the end. The CW XI international batted beautifully for 64 unbeaten from 62 balls.
Earlier, Dave Watt tore through the Colts top order in a 4-wicket opening burst. Playing the true captains role, Watt bowled with great pace and accuracy and had the Colts reeling at 59-6. More conscientious batting from Gary Nayak and Nick Hancock revived the innings somewhat, but the end came swiftly following their demise. The Colts had been turned over in perfect batting conditions for a modest 124.
CW Red approached the target with initial uncertainty. Though Markus clobbered the first ball of the innings over point for four, he saw his partner edge to slip the first ball he faced later in the over. Markus was then beaten by a sharp in-nipper, trapped on the crease and plumb lbw. Indeed, Wright was the only potent Colts bowler in the brief show. He claimed all three wickets to fall in the chase.
