He's about as dire as it gets in terms of players to play for England throughout the last 10 years tbh, if we never see him play for England again it really will be too soon.

That's extremely debateable in itself. Whether his selection in the Headingley Test of 2008 would've made more sense, however, is almost irrefutable.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Pattinson was the better bowler, but there's no way we can know for sure either way given the small amount of cricket Pattinson's played.
:surprise: I'd rather have Mahmood as a fourth bowler to DP

Goughy to answer your question from the other thread...
Bout six weeks ago mate. Got a job offer from a friend of friend to come over to China for initially a year. Job is fairly exciting, everyday is something new and my lifestyle is good. Chinese (Mandarin) is also not that difficult to pick up and I haven't had any culture shock experiences thus far.

What industry?

Problem is the English selectors are expected to pick a few players who are clearly not up to scratch every now and again, happens every summer pretty much. What really got people's goat was the fact that Pattinson had barely any county record of note. Mahmood had a passable county record, despite the fact everyone knew he was poor. Makes a difference imo.

Pattinson's selection would have caused uproar if he had been averaging 3, simply because he had no record, as has been said. He didn't disgrace himself when he played, it's more the fact that he was picked than his actual performance that was a laughing stock, as far as I can see

Yeah. Pattinson is a better bowler than Saj but Saj should have been ahead of him in terms of England selection on the basis of nothing more than Pattinson had barely unpacked his bags from the plane.

Well, whose selection caused more uproar?
Pattinson's, naturally. This was more due to him being very new within the English county game with little media coverage. Him being 'Australian' (yes, look at the speech marks) didn't help either. With Mahmood, there was also the promise of 'pace' which is always blinding too.

I am feeling pedantic tonight. They aren't speech marks. They are inverted commas.

But yeah, I think that was an issue. Apparently Aggers was going mad about it. Can't imagine Chris Tremlett would have been too pleased, either.

If he continues to put in decent performances in the CC I don't really see why not tbh, considering the circumstances I thought he actually did ok in his match, hopefully the fact that the selectors ballsed it up so badly won't effect him too much.
