Great start for the wobs, but knew they'd open a door, and dropping that kick off was exactly that. Knock on to 7 points in moments.

Not sure how wallabies are pinged at scrum time when welsh props are on their knees for 5 Hail Marys, but I guess it keeps it interesting.

Thought that was pretty clear head on head, and incidental or not, it should still be a penalty as it's dangerous play by the cleanout...love some consistency in those calls...

I'm pretty one-eyed in this match, but felt like Wales weren't getting called for being off feet and using hands at the end there - that final penalty for me both Welsh guys on the ball just had hands on deck 'bridging' rather than actually trying to steal.

Anway, Wallabies really lost their way after that dropped kick off, had the opportunity to really twist the knife there, but instead are going to have quite the fight down the stretch. Looked great in first 20 (tbf wales looked turgid) and it seemed the wind changed direction when that kick off was dropped.

Still annoyed to not be there, but lil girl dog has gone into heat again, so glad to be home to save the couch (boy dog in sympathy nappy), so silver linings.

Kerevi gets headbutted at a ruck, scrum Wales. Kerevi makes dominant tackle with marginal incidental head contact, and we are talking about possible red card.

How the **** is a direct shoulder to Nic White's head a penalty only? and white is off with the injury from it...

Love some consistency in the cards here.

He can keep giving ruck pens like that though...

Apologies to all, I'm a little ranty.

I knew Wales were in trouble, but boy, 50 to a 14 man (for 20 mins) Wallaby side is not a good look.

Apologies again for my inane rantings. I've still not shaken the feeling that the Wallabies will let me down, even from a 20 point lead with 10 to play.

That Kerevi red card is such a bad call
And now its a 3 game suspension. Must be an angle of it somewhere that isn't being seen by Joe Public. He won't be particularly missed as Ikitau has really stepped up and Suaili can clearly handle it as well, but it's still quite a bit of BS.

Completely over the top

Disciplinary committee is made up of 2 ladies and a former ref which is also odd as you’d expect at least one former player

Well I'll disagree. There's just no mitigating factors. It's a straight one on one tackle, he's got a clear view, the Welsh player doesn't change direction or height really. It's just a bad tackle that makes heavy head contact, one of the more straightforward decisions of upgrading to a red.

There's a couple of angles here, I think the last one is pretty conclusive, he's just got to go lower.

An upgraded red card for Kerevi | Wallabies 2024

I'll also disagree. He's bent at the hips, as is the ball carrier who has dipped at the point of impact...And Kerevi's initial contact is shoulder on shoulder.

Welsh 7's last step before contact is to slightly change direction as well, which also shows Kerevi is already bending at knee and hip to get low.

Contrast this with the shoulder to White's head by the Wales 9 which was deemed not even a penalty, and Kerevi himself being headbutted by a reckless cleanout earlier in the game, for this to be the one that gets sanctioned and suspended is ludicrous.

Thanks for the link to the video though, I tried to get similar images from the TNT stream replay but the screen blacks out whenever trying to screen capture.

For me, there's greater mitigation at rucks as there's more players around, body shapes change and you can be impacted by other players on the ground. That's why the Scottish red card against SA just beggared belief. But I can see why this was as there's no one else around, he's looking straight at him, and tbh, I don't think he's getting particularly low at all. He may not have meant it, but his body shape was asking for trouble.

I can't remember the White one, but when Kerevi was hit it was a glancing blow at best that he seemed to try and make more of than there really was. The ref didn't fall for it.

But the whole thing is a lottery really and there's a horrible lack of consistency across all the matches. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the Eng/SA game was that no one was carded for a tackle offence.

Yeah thats the thing, all a lottery. Which is primarily where the frustration comes from.

I'll give you the Kerevi head on head at the ruck as pretty glancing, but the White one I've just rewatched - Bevan comes around the ruck, offside, with clear LOS to White, who hasn't yet picked up the ball from the ruck, and collects him flush on the chin with a shoulder while diving off feet...sure Bevan's only a half back, but if he had a 12 on his shirt and another 30kgs, he'd probably be off as well. Happens 1hour 32 mins in the telecast on TNT Sports if you can be bothered :).

Edit: I know it's not meant to be reffed on outcome either, but White goes off and doesn't return from HIA after it.

Didn’t realise that the RFU might be in an even worse position than the ARU

There’s speculation that it might take 10 years for it to get back in the black

Whole game is on life support

I think it shows how reliant they are on the Autumn Internationals. I suspect the Balance Sheet will look a lot better after this Autumn, each match ticket seems to be about £200 (minimum) with 90k attending. It would seem that each game is worth in excess of £20m in revenue. So losing those 4 matches to a World Cup every 4 years is obviously going to mean a significant hit is taken.

It astonishes me how people are willing to pay these crazy prices for tickets, but then Lord's is no different.
