One notes the Red Roses took the cane out of the cupboard and administered a sound English-style thrashing to the Springbokettes (?!?).

I'm guessing by the scoreline (75-0) union as played by the distaff side of Saffer families doesn't attract quite the same fervour as that played by the spear half does.
Funding for the women's game in South Africa is almost non-existent, whereas the Red Roses are a fully professional outfit.

England's driving maul is a massive weapon - I think the first six tries all came from mauls.

Having a group stage that only cuts 12 teams down to 8 seems a little odd in a tournament that everyone sees as a three horse race, but at least it means everyone gets a decent attempt at 4 matches for the long journey to NZ (given half the players are having to take time off work).

The main thing the group stage has done is ensure England and NZ are kept apart before the final. The Welsh have to go straight back to taking their medicine, though. Canada-USA is also getting its second run out in consecutive weeks.

I don't expect England-Australia to be quite the fixture it is in the mens' game but the Walleroos have exceeded expectations so far so maybe they'll find something to bring against England. Bookies don't favour them though. Current odds imply that the Red Roses get the trophy three times out of five after having cleared the French hurdle, and the 5th-8th seeds are making up the numbers.

I've found it frustrating enough that some major NPC games have been clashing with the Women's World Cup in recent weeks, but it's a whole new level on Saturday with the All Blacks playing at the same time as NZ's quarter-final. :(

Not sure if any more could have been done to avoid it, but it sucks massively.

That’s ridiculous

Matches have been scheduled for months so plenty of time to adjust schedule

If the Kiwi lasses ended up not playing in that qf then no big deal anyway

Wasn't able to make it to this one, but another impressive performance by the Black Ferns tonight.

Wallabies absolutely dominate Scotland yesterday .

if you missed it, well done, not the finest game form either team, wallabies lucky to win with the late miss from kinghorn, but also thin lkScotland shot themselves in foot by not taking points when on offer.

Expect Wallabies to not win again rest of tour tbh.

Ironic that they were aided by the failure of the opposition to take the points when that’s been a Wallaby trademark for years

The Wallabies are too relaxed, that's how I see it.

England were just clinging on against Canada at the end there. Couldn't hardly get the ball in the second half, and the scores in the first were enough. Dow's second try was a worldie so watch the highlights.

Didn't expect NZ to be behind at half time. Or any time before the cup final really

I thought that tackle was legit at first, turns out the defender was just so much bigger than the carrier she tackled her face and waist at the same time
