consider yourselves ****ed in that case
Has a gun record in England. Don't be surprised if he does well.

Ed Cowan looks likely to sign with Notts.

Didn't work out all that well last time we had an opener sign up for a county stint in the lead up to the Ashes.
And Hughes scored buckets as well. Notts will be a good place for Cowan to acclimatise though. Swings a lot there and can be really tough early season.

I'm also enjoying reading folk dismiss Pietersen. Quite simply, when he's on it, he is the best batsman in world cricket. By a long, long way, he's the best batsman on either side between Australia and England. His average is still 49/50 despite his apparent problems.
You've probably been sleeping under a rock for the last 2 years, but there's a bloke thats smashed about 4 ground record scores in Australia, and most of Bradman's other existing ones to go along with it.

8 centuries in his last 5 series, 3 doubles and a triple.

Clarke's a new player in England this time, he treats absolutely anything short with contempt these days, so it will be interesting to see how Finn and co bowl to him...

He does. But by the time the Ashes roll around, it will be 2 years since his last century, India in England, 2011. There's been plenty of cricket since then.

Bad place to get into any sort of form though. A typical Notts collapse goes a bit further than Australia's version. Usually they're 5 down before any sort of recovery kicks in.

Well aware of how fine a player Clarke is. He is Australia's best, no doubt about it. In serious form as well. I also think he's a fantastic captain as well. Seriously aggressive in his decision making, always looking for a result. He plays the game in the right way in my opinion. It'll be nice to see two new captains going at it in the Ashes next time. Both fine, fine players.

I'd take Pietersen because the guy is a matchwinner, plain and simple. If he fires, you're looking at big scores in a seriously quick space of time. You refer to Clarke treating the short stuff with contempt, Pietersen treats any bowling with absolute disdain when he's on it, including the very, very best.

Clarke is a serious match winner too... Aggressive and seemingly less likely to throw away a start with a rash shot on top of that

Pietersen is more of a match loser than a match winner. Plays stupid shots and finds ways to get out often when he's on 30.

So dumb to say that you'd take someone because on their day they can smack the ball.... then in the same breath say Warner is no good despite the fact he can score faster centuries than KP.

Clarke > Pietersen.

I don't think it's possible to be more contemptuous of a bowling attack than Clarke was at stages of Adelaide. It's just that Clarke sticks to orthodox cricket shots, whilst KP looks like he's making **** up at times.

Dumb ? Dumb is the suggestion that Warner is in anyway similar to Pietersen. Dumb is to suggest that Pietersen is a 'match loser' and finds ways to get out on 30.

Lets compare....

Pietersen has 22 Test match hundreds and 28 fifties at a strike rate of 63. He has an average of 49.56. His average against Australia is 49 also.

Clarke has 21 Test match hundreds and 22 fifties at a strike rate of 55. He has an average of 51.72. His average against England is 37.

So, all in all, both top drawer players. Lets not be needlessly stupid and start dismissing the talents of either simply because they play for the opposition.

Like you calling Warner a slogger? Must be told to jog on. Must.
Warner has done nothing outside of Australia. He averaged 25 or so in the West Indies. Jog on. Even putting him in the same sentence of KP or Clarke is just idiocy.

I was simply using it to prove a point at how idiotic your assertion that a player is more of a match winner than another player that is much more consistent just because 'when he's on' he can score runs quickly. Absolute lunacy, so I'm glad you can see it as well.
