I guess so, but the way he was buried in 2 'MMA' exhibitions against Jarrett was just awful, he really should be one of the top guys in TNA, but it's never really happened. I guess, as you suggested the money is good, because they can't be happy with the product they're putting out. It's truely atrocious.

Yeah, with very good reason, this is incredibly dire stuff. I've started watching it now, so might as well watch the end of the programme, and it's not got any better. Had the potential for a good match with Morgan and Anderson vs Hardy and Kazarian, but again, was ruined. Match was shaping up nicely, then Anderson suddenly started bumping heads with everyone in sight which was supposedly affecting some head trauma he suffered. Then Rob Terry comes in and ruins another match, setting Morgan up to be Twist of Fate'd by Hardy to get the win. Awful, awful stuff. Oh, and I thought the spinner belt was bad, but have you seen the TNA belt now that Hardy has it? Tacky beyond belief.

WTF is that?

Blimey, the old TNA World Title was actually pretty impressive looking, but that is atrocious. Looks like the Diva's championship in WWE. It's purple ffs.

Anyone catch the show? Not a classic but pretty enjoyable, aside from my Ashes-related fatigue really hurting me in the middle. Gimmick PPVs aren't always a good idea, but sticking a jam-packed one in December, normally the dud PPV, is a great idea and has worked well both times now. Might as well post my thoughts on each match.

Thought the IC title match was okay, although not anywhere near as good as the various singles matches we've seen between these competitors. The finish was different, I know not everyone liked it but it fits Dolph's gimmick well. The spot where Kofi jumped up and under the ladder was pretty cool as well. These three keep me just about tuning into Smackdown, so kudos and hope they can all kick on/return to their early 2010 position on the card, next year.

The Divas match was great. I'm not even going to patronise them by saying it was good for a women's match, it was just a good match, full stop. They worked the table gimmick really well, and tbh they are probably the four best female workers in the E, aside from maybe Gail Kim who never really gets a run for whatever reason. Beth took a couple of really nasty looking bumps during the match but apparently she is fine. The finish was good as well, looked like Laycool were meant to go through the table but it was decent improvisation to finish with the splash.

The tag title match was obviously just there to serve the Nexus beatdown, but getting to see Santino and Koslov is never a bad thing, really pleased that these two have actually found something that works aside from backstage shenanigans with celebrities. Totally Lethal Cobra!

Morrison-Sheamus was SWEET. One of the matches of the year (that's an idea for something for us to discuss actually, might bore you all with my top ten WWE matches of 2010 later). I always enjoy a ladder match that uses storytelling and psychology in amongst the bumps, and there was plenty of clever stuff employed here, I cringed for Morrison and the work being done on his leg. I could name loads of spots I enjoyed, but I'll just say that I LOVED the finish which was impressive, and I must admit that I marked throughout this match as I am sure you are all aware that I'm a bit of a nerd for Morrison. Miz-Morrison somewhere down the line is now pretty much confirmed, maybe the Rumble, can't wait for it.

The Miz and Orton had a decent match, although it was strange seeing the title match slow things down after all the action we had seen in the previous one. I loved Miz's sneaky initial win here, I said to my mate "he should do a Guerrero" so was made up when Matt Striker said, "he lies, he cheats and he steals" and I know a lot of you are Eddie fans so I hope you heard and enjoyed that line.

The TLC match was pretty good, nothing I'll remember especially in years to come but a decent watch. I kind of wanted to see Del Rio get the belt but Edge hasn't been champ for ages so no complaints there, and I'm delighted that Kane is finally not champion. No offence, his title run was okay at first, but I do feel there's been a decline in the quality of Smackdown lately that can hopefully now be addressed with fresh blood at the top of the card. As an aside, Edge is a ten-time champ, but this is his first as a face, amazing.

And finally, Cena-Barrett. Nice to see Punk come out for this, and I'll add a bit more on that shortly. But as for the match - it was decent. I preferred their HIAC effort but most of the reviews seemed to prefer this one. They used the chair stip fairly well, and I don't think the result will have surprised many people although I did think there might be some antics. Cena absolutely destroyed Barrett at the end so I don't know what happens to Nexus from here, but I don't think they are going anywhere just yet. Maybe we'll find out their greater purpose soon enough, I wonder if it will involve Triple H.

Now onto CM Punk, he claimed that someone in the back had wronged him. Well Cena has clearly annoyed Punk lately, including spilling his diet soda (!!) and Punk was vehemently anti-Cena on commentary here. They've had matches before, but never a feud - as a BIG fan of both guys, a Cena-Punk feud is something I have a LOT of interest in seeing. I know we were all quite excited about the prospect of a Bryan-Punk feud, but a feud with Cena shows you how highly they regard him. I hope I'm right about this, it could be GREAT, potentially all the way to Mania? Who knows.

Now finally onto some tips as to what I think we will see at the Rumble:

Miz V Morrison
Edge V Alberto Del Rio
Dolph V Swagger V Kofi V Kaval (bit of a shot in the dark this one)
Natalya V Melina (Melina to turn heel soon IMO)
Tag match maybe
Triple H & Taker as possible entrants to the Rumble (Triple H the more likely of the two). Winner of the Rumble too hard to call at this point, but we could well have one of the great Manias of all-time on our hands looking at the talent available.

Oh yeah, maybe Jericho will come back too. I bloody hope so.

Thanks to South Africa vs India finishing early today I got time to catch the show. Thought it was very enjoyable and pretty much agree with your thoughts GIMH. I especially thought the Divas match was really good. As you said, the tables gimmick was worked really well and I just hope that Beth Phoenix is okay after taking that nasty bump on the outside. A lot of credit should go to all four girls, a fine match.

The ladder match between John Morrison and Sheamus stole the show. It was an incredile match and both of these guys are just so talented. All John Morrison needs to do now is develop some charisma on the microphone and he's a genuine star. Sheamus is already a genuine star and will continue to become more of a household name in the future.

Happy for Edge to win but like you I was hoping for an Alberto Del Rio win even though it seemed unlikely. Another good solid match here. I'm all for a potential feud between John Cena and CM Punk and I think that could really get the WWE fired up with some great promos and potentially great matches. Plus it's a feud that's very fresh and they haven't feuded in the past so I'm all for it.

A very enjoyable show tonight which sets up for a great Royal Rumble coming up. I'm sure Triple H will return at the Royal Rumble although I don't think he'll win. I hope we get Christian and Chris Jericho returning at the Royal Rumble as well but things aren't clear with either of them at this point. The Miz vs John Morrison will certainly be worth watching and I hope WWE continue to build their program on Raw in the coming weeks.

Watched the documentary section of the Jericho DVD today, overall really top drawer. Thought the last 30-40 minutes could have been a bit better though, just kind of listed through his various feuds and whatnot over the last year, but I guess that is fair enough. Loved his comments at the end where he said he didn't want a big send off when he finally decides to retire, and how he wants to be dragged out kicking and screaming and for all the fans to say "what an asshole, I'm glad he's gone", WAFG.

Also, I've always thought his change of character since his return was good, but seeing how he was whilst still in the Y2J character immediately after his return.... it really seemed out of place, I guess I was just pleased to see him back, but I never really noticed how it just didn't seem to work for him anymore, such a credit to him that he was able to reinvent himself and become such a massive player in the company.

Also, the Jericho vs the old man in the crowd bit, That was really fantastic, I really hope it wasn't a work.

Also how hot is Dolph Ziggler right now? His match with Cena on RAW last night was off the charts for a TV match, and WWE have just announced that his match with Bryan a few weeks back is ranked joint top with Taker vs HBK out of all the matches of 2010. Outside chance for a Royal Rumble win anyone? Probably not imo, but a great chance to win MITB.

Watched a load more of the matches from the Jericho DVD today, noted a few things.

Firstly, the Jericho vs Ultimo Dragon match from Japan, WAG.

Secondly, I noticed a load of the commentary from the Jericho vs HHH match on RAW when Jericho won (ph34r:) the World Title had been dubbed out, there were a few periods of about 20-30 second silences I thought, and was just curious as to why that was? I wondered at first if it was due to them mentioning the F too much, but then realised the rest of the DVD is full of similar references which haven't been edited out, so I was just a bit confused. Maybe there were some references to Benoit in the original cut?

One thing I would have included in the extras which has been omitted, is the time when Jericho introduced all of his opponents in a cruiserweight title match in WCW, wonder why they left that out.

I never noticed that about the commentary. Jericho already had a match booked for Backlash against Benoit IIRC so maybe it's to do with that, as you say?

Still a couple of matches I haven't watched on it yet, although they are matches I've seen (the Shawn ladder match, and the Extreme Rules match with Rey Rey, both absolutely stellar, FTR).

So hot right now.

I don't watch a lot of wrestling these days, but Dolph is one of my favourites. Take away the **** name, he's great in the ring and got awesome mannerisms. Love it how his hair goes Mr. Perfect after his matches.

I just miss the handshake stuff. Could have been great.

Yeah, I think it may have happened in the Angle vs Jericho match at No Way Out as well...seem to remember noticing it at some other point as well. Not as bad as the Ladder match DVD though, where Michael Cole actually re-did some of the commentary for certain matches and then had it edited in. Great DVD overall though, have nearly watched all of it, only didn't bother with the more recent matches like you. Also skipped out the match against Hogan on Smackdown because I generally cbf.

Kaval's been released. Apparently it was a mutual release as Kaval wanted out as well. Still it's kind of harsh being released a day or two before Christmas. He won't have any problems finding another job. I'm sure ROH, Japan and TNA would be all fighting it out to sign him up once his no compete clause is over.

It's disappointing though, being the winner of NXT Season 2 and working so hard to get to the WWE that he hasn't capitalised on it like the other former ROH stars have. Maybe he didn't like the constant travel or the politics backstage? Maybe he couldn't adapt to the WWE style as well as he would've liked? Either way it looks like it's back to the independents for Kaval.
