I actually liked the psychology and the thought behind the main event, Cena was working a very classic heel style to conserve energy and not make mistakes rather than going for it, I think the main problem is the fact that the final verse of the match is missing, after the batshit insanity and awesomeness of Bloodline rules last year, the least that could've been done was the Rock showing up but instead we got Travis Scott, which was just so dissapointing.
Having now watched it through, though I suspect this was a part of it, my impression was that Cena wrestled the match like a man concerned about his filming schedule potentially being disrupted by injury.

Whatever it takes!!!
I guess with The Rock not interested in showing up, they are moving Paul Heyman to that Nick Fury type role, who brings the teams together.

I wonder how a Rock, Cena, Rollins, Brekker, Heyman and that rap guy is a decent group.

I don't think we can count on The Rock being around much moving forward tbh. It's pretty clear he's just going to show up when he feels like it/when it suits him, all other story lines and plans be damned.

I doubt Reigns is going to be around much either, so I would guess the long term goal is just to have Brekker and Rollins become the big bad guys so that they can go after the WWE title once Cena drops it (presumably back to Cody) in a few months.

I would guess the Backlash co-main events will be Rollins/Brekker vs Punk/Reigns and Cena vs Orton (the latter is already basically cemented in lol). And then after Cena retains we'll probably get him defending against Punk at whatever the subsequent PLE is. Then a few more defences until defending against Cody at Summerslam.

Not Terrible
Cena vs Orton and Punk seem like such a wasted opportunity. Like I don't mind that they're doing one more run at those, but why not bring in a younger guy that could benefit from being in a championship feud with legends, would also make it more impactful when Cena cheats or runs away to retain.

Cena/Orton
Cena/Punk
Cena/Cody (Cody will be 40 when this happens)

The first two could be PPV triple threats and have a final singles match on Raw/Smackdown

I reckon Cena vs the younger guys will happen in the final half/third of the year when he turns face again. The problem with doing this at the moment is that most of the up and coming decent younger talents on the roster who would benefit from the rub are heels themselves and/or have been made to look like total schlubs over the last year or so and so are in no position to be immediately inserted into a feud with "the GOAT" (e.g., Carmelo Hayes).

I would totally like to see Cena vs Dominik at some point though. And/or Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate or the Creeds.

Cena vs Logan Paul is also surely bound to happen at some point. Possibly as his last ever match.

Yeah, he couldn't get too physical so I guess that was the only good approach he could've gone, he's beyond washed physically.

Norwood's on Fire
he's the third most powerful person in the company. he wasn't called in, he called himself in. #2 (Nick Khan) and #1 (Ariel Emanuel) aren't gonna tell him to stop

i'm sure damage control will start from both sides, but it's clear that the Cena heel turn was a panic move and a failure. Cena still got cheers and Cody still got booed. no-one was anymore interested in the match because of the turn. big fat L for them. they even missed out on one of their favourite things, a wrestlemania moment, by pushing the turn earlier.

now they've ended up at their desired location, things will probably be slightly more orginaised (Punk vs Cena at MITB probably, etc)
Cena heel turn a failure, lol what even is this nonsense

My current theory is that Cena will go pretty deep in the year with the title and that Seth will dethrone Jay Uso in the summer

Actually yeah, this would make sense given that they are nominally on the same brand. Keep forgetting that Cody/the WWE belt aren't actually on RAW due to (yet again) the brand split being completely meaningless.

I wish Cena would cut loose a little instead of this stuffy dankface schoolmarm act he's got going atm. If you're going to insult the crowd why not come up with some real zingers which he's perfectly capable of? Instead we're getting this abusive relationship shrinktalk everytime he shows up and it's honestly boring. I guess it's all a part of wanting fans to hate wrestling, or so they say, but by that logic how long before we get WWE's version of the fingerpoke of doom?
