*Official* Pro-Wrestling Thread II

It was Meltzer that said Kenny vs Moxley was too brutal for him, I don't think anyone here or the wider wreddit consensus felt it was anything too crazy.

Swerve vs Hangman hasn't really either besides this thread - the comparisons Ive seen are still with like Foley/Orton sort of hardcore rather than gross CZW ****.

The more I watch AEW, the more I feel that Tony Khan really doesn't have a filter when it comes to booking or match layouts etc. What I remember growing up is the hard-core spots or angles felt huge because they happened so rarely. Now they are weekly on AEW TV and it's reaching the point where most moves don't mean anything. Would the sweet chin music mean anything if HBK was in AEW right now? Also MJF needs to be protected. A dislocated hip at 27? Doesn't sound good to me.

Yeah this all over.

I read your post so I watched the match and this is the same as last time (I think it was Kenny vs Moxley that time) where people told me it was brutal and it wasn't that bad at all.

It was lame as **** though, I'll say that.
Haha I think we just have different tolerance levels for these sorts of things I tbh.

I am a big fan of Toni Storm and always thought she was much more than getting pie squahed on her face. But that ending felt a bit wonky with that thing hanging out of her broeks

Sweet chin music wouldn't mean anything in WWE right now either considering how One-Note Jey Uso hits it every two minutes. But I get your point; moves and concepts have to be protected for them to have any meaning.

I only skim the surface off wrestling television but good God Prince Nana has to be the best thing going around today. Full-on Eddie Murphy-Chris Tucker vibes. The way he goes from "that is not true!" to "no you're not gonna do that!" in this exchange

I think AEW has lost steam since HHH took the book in WWE. The stories aren't as nonsensical as when Vince was around and the Bloodline storyline was top tier television for a long time.

On a separate note, what do you guys think of the Orange Cassidy? He gets quite a heavy push on the AEW side but I've admittedly never been a fan. I definitely don't think he should be beating Mox. Or getting more TV time than someone like Ricky Starks. It feels like AEW has the roster and the means to be huge, but they aren't because of their own doing.

Not a huge fan of Orange Cassidy but I don't hate him either. Gets points from me for how much he triggers the **** out of people like Him Cornette.

I bagged the **** out of him on here when I hadn't watched enough AEW to realise he was a comedy character. Just thought he was a bland af stoical figure who wore denim and said nothing as part of a silent operator type gimmick. Now he's my favourite character in the whole company. He's been consistently entertaining IMO and produces fantastic matches. Happy for him to be beating the big guys if it means he's on TV a lot.

Might not be everyone's cup of tea and his schtick might start to get stale eventually, but I still love it.

The problem for me at the moment is they are trying to simultaneously book him as a comedy character and as a serious wrestler. It kind of works I guess, but like athlai alluded to, it really needs to culminate in some monster dude absolutely crushing him at some point.

Somehow hes turned Luchasaurus his son Killswitch into this 90s Kane sort of figure. Silent bad ass that is eventually gonna do something insane.

And Nick Wayne seemingly is a made man with a serious future and I'm not even sure hes ****ing 20 yet.

It's a shame TK can't seem to get this kind of energy/storyline going elsewhere. Gotta imagine Christian (and probably Copeland) are the guys behind his character

Why do women's wrestler's names so often sound like they're pornstar names?

Dakota Kai
Skye Blue
Alexa Bliss
Bianca Belair
Beth Phoenix
Liv Morgan
Mandy Rose

It's out of control.

Joe's promo skills are on par with Jake Roberts and Austin in terms of believability and intimidation. Makes even MJF look like a gimmicky hack.
