It's a weird one. Taker's best ring work all comes post-2005 imo, so comfortably back into the deadman days. But as a character he was always much more enjoyable when he could actually talk and act like a real person I think.

Judgment Day 2000 one of the ATG moments as well. Dude shows up on a motorbike wearing a trenchcoat and sunglasses and just proceeds to beat the **** out of everyone in the ring. Doesn't get much cooler than that.

Yeah that's fair enough. Like I say, his best matches were definitely after the biker days ended for mine. Just felt like you could skip more or less everything that wasn't a match itself. Only so many times you can hear him say "Rest in Peace" or for the lights to go out and the gong to chime and him to appear standing behind someone etc. (cool as that undeniably was/is).

I rewatched the Undertaker v Batista match from WM23 the other day actually. First time since watching it live I think. Way better than I remember it being (and I remembered it as being pretty good). Probably should have closed the show.

In fact WM23 is kind of underrated as a WM on the whole in some ways come to think of it.

Never really gets mentioned as one of the better Manias, but it has two championship matches involving some of the biggest stars ever (Taker/Batista & Cena/HBK), and of course all of the lolsy Trump stuff. Very decent match between young MVP and Benoit, and a decent MITB to open.

Only real criticism I have of it is that too many top guys (e.g. Edge, Orton) were used in MITB rather than being given their own match, and the fact that Khali vs Kane was unspurprisingly dire (you know things are bad when before a match has even started JR is using phrases like "Bowling shoe ugly").

Agree that was a decent show and Taker/Batista in particular was great - I remember having vey low expectations for that match and it blew them away. Easily one of Batista's best matches.

I get your point about Taker but FWIW, I think his matches with Mankind back in 1996 are underrated af. Also, the whole deadman who can't feel pain was a nice additional dimension to the storytelling of the matches itself.

His matches with Bret Hart were great too and I actually enjoyed his stuff with Diesel and HBK at that point, either teaming up or taking on each other.

It's an absolutely tremendous pre-sale number considering not even a single match is announced yet. Hoping this is the start of seeing AEW travel more. An annual supershow in the UK (or even more than once a year) would be mint.

Any guesses to what the card will feature?

CM Punk + FTR vs The Elite seems like a distinct possibility
Dunno what they'll do with the BCC, MJF or any of the other major attractions. I'd guess Ospreay is going to be there.

Just going on past experience with WWE, they did some bigish shows in my country back in the day, large crowds and all. They put some random matches on

I think those days of weak overseas ppvs are generally a thing of the past these days tbh. WWE tends to load up those sorts of cards these days.
