Afraid there are none. Kingston vs Punk is probably my favourite I've seen so far and not far off making the list. There's still a bunch of big AEW matches I've not seen yet though.
NOAH has once again crowned a 50yo as their champion over a younger better wrestler. i'm a sad panda. But Wrestle Universe has an app now meaning the best subscription got even better
I am not really a fan tbh. I wouldn't go so far as calling them spot-monkeys like a lot of their critics do. But watching their matches is like watching a kid spam their favourite moves/high spots on a wrestling video game. Entertaining, fun (for a while) and impressive, but after a while it just feels a little superficial.
Let's just kick off my favourite non-WWE matches list while I've got a bit of momentum going.
20. Genichiro Tenryu vs. Nobutaka Araya, WAR Jan '98
If I had to name my favourite Japanese wrestler, I reckon I'd probably pick Tenryu. (Either him or Kobashi, to give a hint at one direction this list is going to go.) He was great as a face and as a heel, in tags or in singles. But whatever role he was put in he was always unmistakably Tenryu: a big, bruising, exceptionally surly former sumo who will sell big for his opponents but also hit them back hard. A lot. Often in the face.
Anyway, he was a huge star and won the world title in both AJPW and NJPW. But this is him in the rather less glamorous setting of his own indy promotion WAR, in its latter, dying days, working an ECW style hardcore brawl in front of a modest crowd against a far less accomplished opponent.
...and it rules. Objectively this is probably the worst match on either of my lists, but it's just a ton of fun. I like it more than any ECW match I've seen. They brawl around the arena, clobber each other with weapons, attempt dives that neither really have the athleticism to pull off (which entertains me more than it should) and climax with them desperately throwing lariats at each other until one of them finally stays down. Not one for technical wrestling purists but a fun time if you're in the mood for an old fashioned brawl.

Fujita will lose when Nosawa tells him to. Nakajima had a really good run and will definitely be champion again, doesn't hurt him one bit. Fujita can still go and hits people really hard, looking forward to his reign.
Brother vs brother. Lots of little stories are packed into this match under that overarching theme. Bret is the babyface and has a title match later on the same show so wants to get this over and done with as quickly as possible while hurting his little brother as little as possible. Owen, recently turned heel, is obnoxious and insecure and desperate to show up his brother.
The story twists and evolves as the match progresses and the action escalates too. Bret begins with lots of roll ups looking for the quick win but by the end his fraternal cares are shelved and his high impact moves are brought out as he's not prepared to let his kid brother derail his dream of main eventing Wrestlemania. Owen is initially happy to congratulate himself any time he so much as wins a lock up, but when Bret picks up an injury he smells blood and attacks it ruthlessly.
The technical ability of both is excellent and the moves on display are ahead of their time for 1994 WWF. They play their characters perfectly and everything they do adds to the story being told. This is two top tier workers who obviously know each other very well putting on a masterclass.

If this match wasn't on the list somewhere I was going to riot, so I'm glad that happened. Excellent write up mate. Gonna make it a thing to try and watch all of these. Love your work.
