AEW is really nailing their characters right now.

Callis, I'm not sure I've wanted to punch a heel manager this much since the boss in LU.
Omega as a deluded egomaniac and the Bucks as arrogant little ****wits just strikes all the right chords.
Mox and Eddie feel effortlessly cool together.
Miro thanked Jesus today for giving him the strength to beat the **** out of Darby. This is the best Miro ever.
Varsity Blondes + The Acclaimed now feel like genuine future stars.
MJF is such a ****wit.

Probably won't be long till we get Page vs Omega and that will probably be as good as AEW ever gets*

*though everytime I see Ricky Starks the future looks brighter and brighter

Ricky Starks is my guy as well.

I just wish they'd cut down on Jericho, MJF, and even Britt Baker (who I like), at least relative to the other women in the division. Bit overexposed. I know she's a bit bland but Shida's basically been given nothing.

I've enjoyed the Young bucks more in the last two weeks than at any other time. Can't go wrong with dickhead bucks vs. two babyface teams that have worked had for the title shot, much better than the will they won't they hesitant Bucks.

Omega and Callis are good, just wish sometimes they'd tone it down a bit. Their comedy stuff does have a way of undermining some of the more serious moments. Other than that their characters work really well for weekly TV.

How good is Serena Deeb btw. Looks in full control of everything she does.

Shiea is a weird one. Her matches always do great ratings but she gets nothing on screen outside of matches.
I don’t mind the use of Britt (best female promo) or Jericho/MJF (feuding against one another is not the best use of those guys. Becomes too much) in the short term. Would be more grating if after another PPV cycle it’s still the same.

I don’t mind comedy Callis/Omega.There’s something about Omega where despite being an utter goof, when the bell rings he is just a total weapon. sort of like Angle in that sense I guess though not as funny either.

And yeah the asshole bucks are great. I ****ing despise them but they do make tag team wrestling feel important.

wish wwe would put any energy into the tag scene. Feels like nothing has meant anything there since Usos vs New Day and that was more the talent making us care than the booking of the belts

Britt Baker is definitely "the" woman in the eyes of AEW management, but I think they have done the best they can with Shida. She doesn't have that Asuka charisma where the language barrier doesn't matter, but she is endearing enough that the fans buy into her just being a better wrestler than the rest of the women. A year reign shows how much they value her but it's time for Britt to bring more exposure to the division imo.

I guess I was too young to appreciate Christian I'm WWE but I've been enjoying watching his matches. They just, make sense? If that explains it.

Shida's booked strongly but not well. Complete absence of stories, randomly disappearing from Dynamite for weeks, being shown in the crowd/backstage rather than participating in the show. The women's eliminator tournament was good but your champion shouldn't be missing 8 Dynamites to organise it behind the scenes, that should be someone else's job. Plus, it didn't really amount to much, Ryo's basically been a non-factor since her challenge.

Personally I think they've had the title on her way too long for how little faith and interest they've shown in her. If they wanted crowds back for a Britt Baker run then they should've picked up someone like an Allysin Kay and put the title on her.

I think AEW simply doesn't want to give speaking time in segments that are not in English. You raise the example of Asuka, but I would counter with Pentagon Jr. Penta was one of the most charismatic people in NA wrestling during the height of LU, and in AEW he's had to be given an English speaking mouthpiece to get some time on the mic. Maybe they've got numbers that show that subtitled segments tank in the ratings, but I don't like it....

Just heard that New Jack died. Good ****ing riddance.
What's the go with this? Not familiar with ECW sadly, but I read his wiki and it didn't mention him having been particularly controversial?

EDIT: Well he does appear to have stabbed people

Admitted to numerous robberies and allegedly involved in murders. He took a lot of pleasure in seriously brutalising people in the ring.

He battered a fat 17 year old kid in ECW for incredibly banal reasons and was unrepentant about it. The kid wasn't the same afterwards and died not to long after , Jack had no remorse.

Absolute scum.

I watched the dark side episode with Nick Gage the other day, I didn't think much of him either sadly.

Whatever it takes!!!
The WWE network is available for like Rs. 300 for a year here in India through their partnership with another streaming service here, Sony Liv, which has the rights for all cricket in England, Australia too, among others.

The interface is not great and the search is a bit wonky but you can find what you want reasonably quickly. I am now living through post WM XI WWF. New Gen was just comically awesome all the time. :)
