Well played to Pakistan too, been a terrific series. As ever, a highly watchable but oh so flawed side.

This test has been a great victory - the first test was good but required a clown-car batting performance from Pakistan. This one though, a great fightback from the bowlers to restrict Pakistan's lead to seventy when they were on target for far more, and then the match-winning partnership between Williamson and Nicholls. Such a monumental turnaround from those two, to take NZ from certain losers if they'd failed, to likely winners.

Though I never watched it on television, did anyone recall the 200+ Fleming-McMillan partnership against the Lankans at Colombo 1998 in the 3rd innings? That was possibly the last time NZ effected such a turnaround away from home.

As yes, Kane captained very well and dealt with all sorts of setbacks well on this tour. Didn't imagine today's declaration would come when it did, as someone said Baz would be proud.
