Yup, match was decided at the toss for mine. Got to question pitches like this in test cricket though. I mean 1 wicket in 105 overs with a reasonable attack against a decent but hardly great (with the exception of Khan) batting line-up can't be good for test cricket.

It'll be up to us to respond in kind and score big runs though. If we just collapse nothing will be done about it. This isn't a test for the Pakistani batsmen, and that's not due to bad bowling. The pitch has just offered nothing for our guys here.

Exaclty. Never, ever make the mistake of judging the pitch before both sides have batted I always say. People make it a habit to assume the pitch is a road just because one team makes it look like one. And then on the same pitch the other team gets bundled out cheaply.Could still turn out to be a road after all, but it's a mistake to assume NZ will get 500 on this too.

Pakistan though have been ridiculously lucky with the toss it has to be said. Road or not, they've got the chance to bat first in conditions which suit their batsmen 3 times in a row.

if NZ gets bundled for 167 I'd still call it a road. If you'd just watched perfectly pitched outswingers from southee getting jabbed from the crease to point you'd agree.

Yeah but Sodhi was also spinning it past the edge before lunch on the first day here. We complained about the dead surfaces in Bangladesh, and yet I remember top Sodhi wicket deliveries in isolation there, as well. We just want a less captious and exacting brand of cricket wherever we are in the world, basically.
