Generally a graveyard for fast bowlers from what I've seen.Does anyone know what the pitch at Dubai normally plays like? More of the same, or does it offer more for the bowlers?

I've written a letter to David White asking that Dunedin not get another test. Largely due to the weather.Yep, unfortunately people hoping Sodhi can be hidden by Southee and Boult success with the older Kookaburra (like they enjoy with the older Duke) will probably be in for another Uni Oval-style bitter disappointment.
There usually is a bit more in it; Pakistan got rolled in the first innings of both their Tests there last season and lost heavily (against SL and RSA), but when Australia played there a couple of weeks ago it was pretty similar to the Abu Dhabi wicket really.Does anyone know what the pitch at Dubai normally plays like? So did you also ask that Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland don't get any more tests? Dunedin is much drier than those three. Let's play every test in Napier and get Southee's average back above 40.I've written a letter to David White asking that Dunedin not get another test. Largely due to the weather.
Whenever I listen to talkback after we've lost another days cricket in a Dunedin test the locals all confess that always rains during cricket games. So did you also ask that Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland don't get any more tests? I got a long winded answer back by the way. Full of corporate speak. Thanks for your views. We take a lot of factors into account. We try to share the cricket around etc and look forward to your continued support - went on for a full page.I've written a letter to David White asking that Dunedin not get another test. This is a tired argument. Dunedin rains no more in the cricket season than anyone else in the countryWhenever I listen to talkback after we've lost another days cricket in a Dunedin test the locals all confess that always rains during cricket games.
We lost a certain victory once when it rained there and nowhere else in the country.
Of course its a wind up. David White would think I am a lunatic and they would probably pin my letter on the wall and laugh at it.This is a tired argument. Dunedin rains no more in the cricket season than anyone else in the country
Would of kept his secretary busyI got a long winded answer back by the way. Full of corporate speak. Thanks for your views. We take a lot of factors into account. We try to share the cricket around etc and look forward to your continued support - went on for a full page.
With the bat? Uni Oval can't really throw stones in that department. There's more swing and carry in Napier games as well. The modern Southee and Boult would go alright there, itbt.Let's play every test in Napier and get Southee's average back above 40.
I enjoyed your secretary one liner!I wasn't sure. Thought you were trolling and wrote (then deleted) a post accordingly, but its such a hurricane thing to do
So to summarise
"We can't let Sodhi go back to domestic because he won't get enough overs to improve"
"We think Sodhi was the best bowler on display for us because he scooped a couple of wickets when the batsmen went after him, despite him going for more runs in the test than any other bowler"
"Despite Craig having a match win for NZ, we want to throw him away already because he's older and an off spinner"
"Sodhi performed well because he got 8 wickets at 28... despite 6 of the wickets being forgone conclusions"
And in response to that... poppycock.
If Sodhi can't impress at domestic level, why do we want to even give him half a chance? Considering Williamson was throwing down part-timers to a better average, better consistency and more wickets than he was and considering Craig has shown at first class and test level that he can bowl with more consistency than Sodhi. At the moment it's like "Sodhi got a 4/10 in the last innings.. but everyone else was 3/10 so he's worth perservering with" - the problem is, Sodhi getting a 4/10 was his best bowling performance in a black shirt so far.
Nah, Wagner will come in for Craig and I think Rutherford might come in for Neesham. What's the bet the only change will be Rutherford for Craig?
I like the wagner move and I think he can feel aggrieved for being left out to begin with (what if anything did we learn from the Windies tour)Nah, Wagner will come in for Craig and I think Rutherford might come in for Neesham.
Neesham didn't really do much in the test and I don't really see him doing anything more on this tour, so I think it'd be fair of that happened. We really do need Wagner and the selectors will continue with Sodhi after his 'haul' in the 1st.Nah, Wagner will come in for Craig and I think Rutherford might come in for Neesham.
Wagner isn't bowling well at the moment, some technical deficiencies in his action seem to have him falling away at the crease which is robbing him of pace and making his already skiddy bounce of the wicket even lower and slower, but he will try his hardest and I think if nothing else, he will create opportunities even on the most dead and lifeless wicket.I like the wagner move and I think he can feel aggrieved for being left out to begin with (what if anything did we learn from the Windies tour)
Neesham may not be very good but he can't be dropped just yet. And I haven't really heard anyone justify to my satisfaction why Rutherford is in the squad (notwithstanding his A team form)
