'Official' Pakistan in West Indies

What idiotic running! If Taufeeq had gotten out there, it surely would've induced panic and the customary collapse.

Sammy or Samuels?

Bishoo has been very ordinary so far. Should have at least targeted the stumps more often.

Pakistan should bat for another two sessions and get the lead up to around 330. They shouldn't bat for too long and give West Indies a chance to escape with a draw. I can't see West Indies lasting more than three sessions max myself, but as Pakistan are the ones trailing in this series, they shouldn't leave anything to chance (rain,etc.).

I think Pakistan should be striving to bat until tea tomorrow, and then put the Windies in.

Whether they will last that long remains to be seen, but if the Windies bowling is this innocuous, then maybe that might not be as unlikely as it sounds.

True, but I think by the end of today's play Pakistan will have put the game beyond West Indies' reach (around 250 or thereabouts). I'm not saying they should declare at stumps today, but batting for more than a session tomorrow may not be wise.

EDIT : @ Howe_zat

Why should they bat till tea? Their lead should be around 350 after the first session tomorrow. Surely that's enough? The only way Pakistan can not win this test from here is if they're too defensive.

Well, there's only 20 overs left today, and I suspect the Windies will try to cut off runs in the first session tomorrow, so unless they bowl rubbish tomorrow, I don't think the target will reach 350....

Sorry, scratch that! They're bowling rubbish already....

Just watching the game now and listening to Michael Holding talk I've come to realise he speaks a lot of sense and has done so over the years... I know him having the job as WI coach is not on the cards but surely he must have informal chats with some of the WI players offering them some advice? I think he's like an Imran Khan kind of figure for WI players and that his words would be of some meaning to the WI players? However they seem to be doing all the things wrong that hey usually do and that MH usually is banging on about...

Sadly, how many of the present cricketers are looking to Holding for advice?

Great catch by Baugh!

Taufeeq will have to remain on 97 overnight. He's soooo nervous and I had hoped that he would get his century before close of play. It will be very tense for him in the morning.

Azhar Ali’s 53 yesterday was only the 4th time in 23 innings that Azhar has scored with a SR above 50 and it was the most aggressive Azhar has ever batted (58.88) for Pakistan after facing 18 balls or more. Pakistan is the only test playing nation which has a batting line-up where only 1 batsman has a SR above 50 (Akmal Junior) and where 3 of its top order batsman have SRs under 40.

The Windies would have 0 batsman with a SR above 50 if Devon Smith replaced Kraigg Brathwaite and Denesh Ramdin kept instead of Carlton Baugh.

Essentially these are the two most boring test batting nations around but it’s a good job neither side can bat.
