This surely belongs in the "most useless stats" thread? So the previous innings in test cricket saw both openers, Rory Burns and Dom Sibley, being dismissed for ducks.
Now, this innings have both openers, Butt and Abid, being dismissed for 1.
Why are some bowlers front-on and some side-on?What's the actual benefit of having a weird crabwalking stance like Fawad Alam, Chanderpaul et al ?
Yes, absolutely. I'm sure that I'm the only one to have noticed this...but let's be quiet about it lolThis surely belongs in the "most useless stats" thread?
Historically at least, it was believed that side-on actions really help in generating swingWhy are some bowlers front-on and some side-on?
Lol, I know, I was wondering if you can post it in that thread citing cricinfoYes, absolutely. I'm sure that I'm the only one to have noticed this...but let's be quiet about it lol
There's at least answers to what benefits can be derived from either type of action; it's easier to bowl accurately with a front-on action, it's potentially easier to generate pace with a side on action because of hip rotation etc etcWhy are some bowlers front-on and some side-on?
Like the open stance is to see the bowler running up more clearly? Right-handed batsmen all appear to have a more open stance when right-handed bowlers are bowling from around the wicket OR Left Armers bowling over. There's at least answers to what benefits can be derived from either type of action; it's easier to bowl accurately with a front-on action, it's potentially easier to generate pace with a side on action because of hip rotation etc etc
Some of these blokes also decided to change to the crab-walking stance when they were already fairly deep into their careers, so presumably there's some benefit to be gained from it for particular batsmen. I just want to know what it is.
Then by law in Eng vs Ind, openers will be dismissed for 2 in any innings*So the previous innings in test cricket saw both openers, Rory Burns and Dom Sibley, being dismissed for ducks.
Now, this innings have both openers, Butt and Abid, being dismissed for 1.
The problem with Roach and Holder are that they're pretty useless away. If either could get their average under 30 (away) by the time they call it a day, then they'll be worthy of being mentioned along side the Walshs and Bishops of yesterday....
Can you post the leading west Indians outside the Caribbean
