*Official* Pakistan in Sri Lanka 2014

These boundaries mean nothing, he's not a Test batsman, will be good in shorter formats though. Anyway congrats to SL, I like Mathews, a genuine star.

That's why Sanga will never be rated in the top echelon. Gives it away when set too often and can't lead his team to victories. Another padded double century on a lifeless deck in a bore draw. Yawn.
Oops..fantastic victory for our boys from a match that we turned around.another awesome finish from captain fantastic. Well done Sri Lanka

Nail biting stuff.gotta feel for the Pakistanis in terms of having the game saved for such a long period but that's the beauty of test cricket.so pleased that Mathews continues to grow and show his class.

Going to watch the third day at SSC so really looking forward to that

Ended up some game. Dean Jones was still talking this morning about this pitch being reported to the ICC.

This wasn't really a result pitch it must be said, gave very little assistance to the bowlers throughout and made strokeplay tricky as well because of the lack of pace, the weather during the lead up (and on day 3) probably didn't help but it was still a disappointing pitch. Only due to inept batting and excellent bowling was a result possible

Yeah, it turned a little, but for day 5 that was a pretty placid pitch, all the bowlers bowled well

Mathews now averages over 52 from 42 Tests. When do we start talking about him being seriously good?

IMO he's already SL's 4th greatest Test batsmen after Sanga, Mahela and Aravinda.. Thilan is a close 5th.

When he succeeds in NZ, was disappointing in both SA and Aus, and while he was unbelievable it felt at times like it was more his temperament, strokeplay and cunning that was tested rather than his technique. He is a very good player atm, close to world class, but still has the hard, bouncy seaming conditions against good fast bowlers box to tick before we can call him complete at this stage.

If he retired tomorrow would you really rate him that high? Will end up better than Mahela at this rate but has a long way to go don't you think?

Aside from him suggesting that everyone in SL has flown a kite sometime in their lives.. I agree he's been in top form.

This article on Cricinfo on Younis Khan strikes out one message, ' Younis Khan is the fading echo of a more wholesome time in Pakistan's history'. I can't help but to agree. Something won't be the same when he leaves, not suggesting that Pakistan would struggle but it wouldn't quite be the same.
