*Official* Pakistan in New Zealand 2020/21

It would be very convenient if Santner, being a handy batsman, would be good enough with the ball to be our number one spin bowler and take important wickets.

Unfortunately he's provided no real sign of doing that, ever. Not in FC cricket in NZ, not in tests at home, not in tests in Asia. And it's surprising how inaccurately he's bowling, even here.
That's maybe the most frustrating thing, he can land the ball in the right spot, but it's like twice an over. Never going to put enough pressure on the batsman bowling the rubbish other four balls.

Think Kane should bowl himself for at least 2-3 overs here. Two set batsmen to face the 2nd new ball is a great result for Pakistan.

Santner has been poor, bowling to Alam like he did to Warner, but you fancy he may get a wicket as neither batsman rate him and they may cut one too many.

That's frustrating to see Williamson get so much out of the pitch in his two overs.
yup, once again would like to see him bowl more, though I guess he can't be bothered with the risk of being called every so often for chucking

Will acknowledge that yes, Santner hurt his bowling hand and that can't help. But you don't want to see Williamson getting more turn than your main spinner.

Kane has 29 wickets @40 in test, Santa has 39@45. Not much of a gap between them statistically lol. Joe root is probably a better test spinner then Santa.

Anyway forget about spin bowlers, back in their usual dusty corner behind the sofa where they can be ignored, new ball pace is where this game is at.

Who will provide the wicket needed in the next 10 overs?

Southee va Rizwan and Boult vs Fawad looks a good matchup for NZ at the moment.

Obviously Ajaz is only just returning from injury (considered fit enough for the next test?) but I still find it curious they've completely overlooked Somerville. He didn't bowl particularly well in Sydney but there's no doubt he's still a better bowler than Santner.

Ug I've gotta stop talking about spin bowlers 8-)

Santner’s performance probably more disappointing than Vettori’s on those occasions when he was unable to take advantage of 5th day turning pitches, Vettori rarely had an attack of this quality at the other end.

TBF Santner was always competing with Mitchell fir this XI, the pace quartet was fixed.
