***Official*** Pakistan in New Zealand 2017/18

Pretty sure I’ve attended only (and every) loss at Eden Park since 2014.
Can you please give us prior notice of your attendance? I don't know how much Pakistan were paying for a win, but I'm sure it would have been a nice little earner.

Lock it in Chris
Needs more Sodhi.

Also, I notice there's been a groundswell of support (not just here) for adding Taylor back into the T20 team. He'd be in our best side we put out tomorrow, yes, but it also wasn't long ago (last T20 World Cup probably) many were saying both he and Williamson were too slow for T20. And if we want to win the next World T20 (which isn't hugely motivating to me but we might as well try), then we're not going to get there with two cakes in the top four. I tend to agree. Current form not withstanding, Williamson is the more versatile choice of the two - more likely to play a supporting role and score at SR of 120-130, so he's in, either opening or at 3. But Taylor's less able to tick things over at that rate and his hitting zones are a lot more limited, so I wouldn't be rushing to have him in there.

OTOH I wouldn't replace him with Bruce either, who looks a bit like an unrefined 2007 Taylor who just wants to heave to cow corner. With all of Chapman, Philips and Seifert currently unproven then Taylor would need to be retained, but if things go to plan with them, I don't think Taylor would be in my top T20 side.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I think the number 3 spot in general has been a real bogey spot for NZ in general in T20s. Only Baz has a decent record there, ditto Munro, but Munro is far better opening. Kane seems to be best opening or nothing.

His series figures of 0/50-odd are ridiculous, considering how well he's bowled. Although his last over yesterday was poor.

Tbf 1 poor over out of 4 was better than the other bowlers who had 2-4 poor overs each.

Not Terrible
I like Sodhi a lot as a T20 bowler and do think hes probably our best one. But he isn't so valuable as a bowler as to outweigh the value of Santa, and on balance Sodhi doesn't make it IMO.

An attack of Southee/Boult/Santner/Sodhi/CDG/Munro would be alright I suppose. But I like 3 genuine quicks in NZ.

Coach Mike Hesson said Phillips would return to play in the domestic one day competition.

"After discussion with Glenn, we felt he'd benefit from going back and continuing to evolve his game with Auckland," said Hesson.

"Glenn has a big future, but at this point in time we both think continuing to get experience on the domestic scene is the right move.

"Tom's ability to slot into the middle-order made him the right choice to come into the squad.

It is my opinion that Phillips is 100% untried in the middle and lower order in whiteball cricket at any level until yesterday.

Seiffert, has plenty of experience and reasonable success at 6 in 50 over cricket, and has also batted lower in T20 on occasions (but unsure how successfully in T20, he has had success opening)

I'm probably behind the 8 ball on Phillips's development, as he has now scored 3 List A tons (all top order innings), but when I have seen him he had a lot of work to do on scoring outside 'his areas'.

Don't mind this. In T20 Blundell has the better body of work in the lower order, I feel.

I guess this means they also don't rate Phillips currently to open in Munro's absence, which is a bit of a sting.

Is their any urgency though? When is the next World T20 not-world Cup? The ICC coup changed that from 2 yearly to 4 yearly, still the case?

Exactly. This is almost the perfect opportunity for Phillips to step up while Munro isn't there to play his in natural spot.

But yeah T20 World Cup is in 2020 in Australia.
