Imagine if India and Pakistan were one!

Imagine if Pakistan and india were one country like they were 50 years ago and millions of family even today are close to each other from the other country simply because pakistanis and the indian muslims are all related somehow and have the same culture and customs.... well I think Pakistan's team today is already like at least # 2 in the world and they need no one else really .... I mean they have no space in the line up they already have like 50 players trvaeling and only 11 getting to play.... They have no space for batsmen they have 3 world class batsmen and a strong batting line up with a thundering bowling attack....

Please look at the detailed pakistan line up (with comments) I posted on the one of the recent previous page.....

Funniest quote of the year!

I think one of the best cricket comments this year was when Sajid Mahmood told his parent who are pakistani that they would not get a free ticket to the match in england if they did not support england, since Sajid is a england strike bowler ...fast bowler that england do not have much of ... obviously another pace bowler form pakistani decent not a suprise!

How is missing nearly 50% of the CC "hardly been sidelined"?
I think he means that he has not been sidelined for all the season, it is how I read it, rather than not being sidelined at all during the season.

It reads both ways, its not the first ambiguous statement this week on CC :)

He's not from Pakistan. He's from Bolton.

Yeah I just read it the other way. Fair enough.

More confusion in Pakistan

Excerpts :

- "It's not the first time it has happened. In 1992 while we were playing, our manager Intikhab Alam told us not to worry, he would handle everything while we should just play on. Afterwards, he sent a letter protesting. Where was the manager now and did anyone know the rules? Let's not forget though that Hair was correct in all the actions he took and he should be lauded for those decisions." - Aaqib Javed

- "One player in the dressing-room told me that all decisions were being taken by Inzamam about the protest. Shaharyar's very nature is of compromise, once a diplomat, always a diplomat. Not being clear and firm on issues is natural. When they convinced Inzamam to come out, it actually made Pakistan and Inzi look more foolish." - Aaqib Javed

- "totally compromising Pakistan's stand. You either protest or you do not; you cannot hedge your bet both ways. That takes away the moral high ground completely and that is what the PCB's actions have done." - Shahed Sadullah a Pakistan columnist

- "They were like a whole group of Inspector Clouseaus, all bumbling through without knowing quite what they were doing, without knowing the law, making one statement after another, each one contradicting the last." ...."it's been such a big ****-up that questions will most definitely be asked when they get back." - an un named 'well placed' source

Its as clear as mud !!

"Woolmer's relations with Zaheer and captain Inzamam-ul-Haq have descended into acrimony," - Daily Telegraph

"I won't deny that I considered resigning and I did very seriously,"...."I enjoy coaching cricket and I missed that over the last few days. I am very unhappy about the general situation as well, but as far as resigning is concerned, that is no longer the case." - Bob Woolmer

Reports suggest that a few options were discussed as to a course of action, including protesting on the field or going back to the hotel. Woolmer refused to comment though he stressed "it wasn't a confused and angry place as is suggested. I was 100% behind Inzamam and the team though and supported whatever decision they took. Advice was offered but in the end we all supported Inzamam's stand absolutely. I am the coach and my job is to offer support to him - whatever decision he would've taken I would have supported him."

Too many questions, however, remain unanswered. With growing suspicion and criticism in Pakistan that their board has bungled their way through this crisis, the questions will keep coming until exactly what happened that day becomes clear.

Fardin passed away. There's a stickied thread in OT about it I think. A real shame. :(

Last series he played 2 games before thankfully being put out of his misery.

The first one his "death spell" was 3-0-26-0, in the second he didn't even get a death spell as Australia had cruised home.

Series prior to that he had death spells of 2-0-11-0 (to the tail), 2-0-9-0, 3-0-21-2 and 0.5-0-8-1
not fantastic, nor horirble, lets just see how he goes because i maintain to date none of the young bowlers who have come into the ODI side have looked an inch good & if he can bowl well he would be good back up in a 4-man pace attack of Harmison/Flintoff/Anderson for the WC.

Speaking of Anderson, he made his return to bowling today with 4-0-29-0 in the Andrew Flintoff testimonial twenty20.

Strange Lancashire side including Darren Lehmann, Chris Cairns and Deon Kruis, the England side included Kabir and Ian Botham

It does irratate me how the idea of Britain being one of the most multi-cultural countries in the world is lost on a lot of people. Instead of being lauded for having a diverse population we get accused of stealing cricket talent from other countries.
It's not as if a/ we're scouring the streets of India and Pakistan for cricketers and then bribing them to play for us or that we're in anyway forcing people like Mahmood or Panesar to play for England. They want to play for England because they feel English.
I grew up in a part of London and it really annoyed my 'Asian' school friends too when they got asked where they were from as the answer was just London.
Let's please stop asuming that anyone with a non-English name has either been poached from somewhere or coerced into playing for us.
