I bet whoever it was who had tickets today was gutted when KP got out early... dour stuff since.
I sat down, KP went out, and I was gutted, but I thought it was a cracking day. Cook may not have you on the edge of your seat, but he so elegant.

Pretty comprehensive performance from us. It shows that it's bowlers who win you matches. Our batting did slightly worse than in the 1st, but with Harmy & Monty having a little bounce in the pitch it was a massacre.

Harmy currently (IIRC) 17th in the test rankings, wonder where he'll be up to after this?

Indeed.

He got to 65 on Thursday afternoon without looking troubled and without anyone really noticing him score the runs!

Monty had conditions in his favour, KP, Kaneria, Afridi and every England main seamer took wickets at a faster rate.

If Monty can't perform when the conditions are the most in his favour he'll likely see for a year then how can we expect him to be of any use the rest of the time? Unlike lots of others I don't see the point in having a specialist 'give the seamers a rest whilst being milked with complete ease' bowler.

Just think this should be quoted, theres lots of other similar comments, but I can't be bothered to look for them:)

That year was short.

Before people start re-masturbating over Steve Harmison lets hope he can follow this up and not let it be his only good bowling performance in a test match for the next twelve months. Because in all honesty Andy Caddick would have got a fifer on this wicket.

Good victory though. Any one have a clue what to expect for the Headingley wicket.

Credit to the groundsman, don't see many bowler friendly wickets now so it's always nice when you get one.
dont forget England got 460 odd on this so called bowler friendly pitch..was is nice to see is a pitch with bounce and a bit of pace, which can work for both batsman and bowler

That's what you get from him sadly.

Angry kitten, Angry kitten, Angry kitten, then....big scary destructive bowler.

Just enjoy it when he does click.

Harmison was the only England fast bowler to take wickets - Hoggy didn't bowl badly, let's give credit where credit's due. But, yes, let's hope Harmy follows this performance up with another special one at Headingley.

You make it sound like Caddick coulnt bowl. On his day he made the hairs on the back of my next stand up. Caddick is a very underrated player. He just had a soft mind that didnt fit into the England setup at the time.

Was surprising to see a pitch do so much at Old Trafford, but still most of the wickets Panesar got were from a bad shot or a fluke, you could understand bad shots against GBH because he shook up the batsmen. Anyway every dog has its day, even Giles takes five-fers occasionally.
