With regards to the bowling i don't think a new-ball attack of Harmison/Anderson is weak at all. While our batting also has a very solid look if not an destructive look a la Australia, South Africa or Pakistan.
Harmison could do decent job if he really wanted to, but his game's going backwards ASAICS - he was certainly dire against SL. And IIRC he prefers not to open the bowling in the oneday game. Not that he seems terribly keen to play in them anyway. Anderson's a hard one to call. I rate the guy quite highly, but we don't know how he'll be post-injury.

As for batting, yes, it's looked OK on paper for a couple of years now, but it usually underachieves badly.

Cook played two decent innings at the top yes, but i'm not convinced about his ability as an ODI opener, i'd persist with Joyce or call up Mal Loye.
Generally I'm not in favour of picking players who aren't remotely good enough for the test side, although Loye could always prove me wrong of course. I know he's very highly rated.

Interesting suggestion elsewhere about having Fred open the batting in the CT, especially as he won't be bowling. Might be fun in those conditions, although I don't really fancy him against the new ball swinging all over the place.

Mike Selvey mentioned Fred opening as a possibility in The Guardian a couple of weeks back. Pointed out that Both opened in the 1992 WC.

With very little success, no?

Coupla 50s from memory. We got to the final tho, which you'd take in WI, wouldn't you?!
Yes, but despite, not not due to Beefy's batting. Mind you, Fred's a better bat now than Beefy was by 1992, so it's not a completely fair comparison.

Actually it's not the worst idea for the CT, given that Fred won't be bowling. Otherwise we're looking at Strauss, Cook/Joyce, Bell, KP, Fred, Colly, Dayrymple, Yardy, Read and 2 of the quicks - bats long, but thin on bowling and we're in trouble if one of the bowlers has a mare.

He's now said he might be fit to bowl later in the Tournament (which obviously isn't going to happen!)

They are usually kept stickied for a week or so after a series ends as people may wish to still talk about the tour and give conclusions etc.

So who is he biased against then.

Provide evidence to back up this "fact"

On a point of reference, how many shocking decisions did Hair make in the series?
Perhaps you should read this whole thread standing on your head ! maybe then you will get it .....8-)

So you're going to provide clear evidence that Hair is biased and which side he is biased against then?

I think that the claim is that he's biased against teams from the sub-continent.

That being the case, one could assume that he's also biased against players with sub-continent roots - Mahmood and Panesar from England, Patel from New Zealand, Sarwan and Chanderpaul from WI, Amla from SA

Further, he's probably also biased against non-whites in general - the entire WI team, some Zimbabweans and a couple of South Africans

And even those with colored back-grounds such as Gillespie from Aus, Herschelle Gibbs from SA etc

Or maybe, just maybe, someone got caught doing what they shouldnt have been and theyre making up excuses to cover ther ****.

Why is this thread still stickied?
Series threads usually stay sticked until a week after the series to make it easier for end of tour discussion.

Because obviously if it's a team from the subcontinent, they MUST have been cheating. I mean, how can an Australian umpire be wrong? That's totally against nature's law and cosmic realities.

Don't be silly, obviously if it's a team from *Pakistan*, they MUST have been cheating...

Your not saying he's wrong, your saying he's racist, and you have no proof that he, just like Darrel hair doesn't have video evidence that They tampered with the ball.

Excuse me, when and where did I say he's racist? I want you to provide me a link to that statement. I’m getting tired of people like you who want to assume what my thoughts are. If you are going to make a stupid statement, at least have the decency to do some research first. I have consistently stated that I dislike Hair NOT because I think he's a racist, but because I think he's a bad umpire. He's a bad umpire because he's stubborn, seems to welcome and seek out controversies, and thinks of himself as being bigger than the ICC (as evident by his comments on Murali in his autobiography). You got what I'm saying now genius? Or do I need to break it down even further?
