Everyone keeps saying that after each game...

Broad is an obvious candidate for death bowling because he's so tall, the other death bowler I would say should have been Yardy because his pace is deceptive and because there aren't any other obvious candidates.
Yardy first game and all but not a bad shout. Bit like Chris Gayle, he can fire in the yorkers at the death and he has done it for Sussex a few times.

Where's that pic in your avatar from, Barney?
Dunno, have had it in there for ages. I think I just Googled for pictures of the Strauss catch, IIRC.

In terms of when the event was, it's Strauss catching Gilchrist at Trent Bridge last summer.

Like the look of Yardy more with every viewing. Bowls as fast as any spinner this side of Chris Harris, but actually did get some turn too. Certainly an improvement from Rikki.

47 off the last two tho. Wow. Awesome stuff. Doubt that's been bettered all that often.

What an unbeliavable finish by Razzaq!! He may have possibly rescued Pakistan. I can't wait to go home and watch his innings! :)

tbh i think the catch carried, but the referral meant it wasn't going tobe given. (foreshortneing and all that jazz)

Mind you Strauss was completely convinced it didn't carry and he was closer than the cameras

Poor, poor umpiring. Just because Andrew Strauss wants you to refer it to the third umpire in order to let him off the hook and save England yet again doesn't mean you have to, umpire. Andrew Strauss 5 c Inzamam-ul-Haq b Asif

Lovely, glad the standard of cynicism hasn't waned while I was taking a break.

Rana should be opening the bowling. He could easily be getting the same swing that Lewis got and Shoaib and Asif aren't getting.

How could the umpires have been certain beyond any reasonable doubt that it had carried? They couldn't, and neither could the 3rd umpire.

I don't have a clue what Atherotn is on about with the forshortening thing, it looked like it didn't carry to me.

So you'd rather him make a wrong decision than refer it to the third umpire and get a fair, correct decision? With logic like that, I deduce that you are from Yorkshire and therefore far more stupid than I imagined you were.

I'm going on the basis that Poms are generally liars and cheats. That said, I find it likely that Andrew Strauss clearly saw that he had been caught, and rather than gentlemanly leaving the ground, he stood there and demanded a review, knowing that the foreshortening of the angle or whatever it is would save him. Obviously, the umpires should have countered that and called him out immediately.

Going to the third umpire made it an unfair, incorrect decision. I am not from Yorkshire, and if what you say is true, you must have imagined me to be a super-genius. How flattering.
