*Official* Pakistan in England and Ireland 2016

I know that people will only keep boundaries and wickets on the highlight reel. This is a shame because future generations will not get to enjoy the 1st ball of the 34th over, which has the single worst appeal of all time from Sarfraz Ahmed

Rain.

Pros: England automatically win match

Cons: Someone in Southampton played 'Umbrella' and thought that was very clever.

It's remarkable how often the side that wins the Tests (or "morally" wins) just hands the ODIs over like they don't even care.

This is why the ODIs should be first.

I don't think they don't care, Pakistan's ODI outfit is just pretty embarrassing in general

I think if odis are played before tests it might help the touring team to slightly adapt better. Any game time against an international outfit is massive imo regardless of the format

We had a brief phase in England of playing the ODIs as a three team tournament between the two test series. Maybe from 2000 to 2005?
It worked pretty well iirc. Far more interesting than a longer series of ODIs against one side.

This has nothing to do with not caring. Pakistan LO sides have major problems..and it's not even a recent thing.

Natwest ODI series? remember when Bangladesh played England and Australia and beat Australia in a match  laugh:

It often appears like that because people don't get that they are different formats.

That was the one.
iirc the 2002 and 2005 series had brilliant final matches involving England vs India and Aus respectively.
If pushed, I can recall a bit about us winning against WI/Zim in 2000 and SA/Zim in 2003. And being slaughtered by Aus/Pak in 2001, and then by WI/NZ in 2004.

But the point is I can actually remember these series, which is rarely the case when we play 5 or more matches against the same side.

What I remember most from the 2005 Natwest series was Australia losing to Bangladesh and the models.

This got me thinking though. I think the Eng-Pak ODI series that year might have been the last time I watched an ODI series that was not the WC.

I think the tri-series suffered because attendances were poor for the non-England matches, certainly if it wasn't India or Pakistan touring

I liked it when Australia came in 2010 just for ODIs. But they overeggged that pudding by inviting them most years afterwards. I realise it's not logistically feasible, but single format (or at least T20/ODI and Tests separate) tours add prestige IMO.
