Our performance with the bat has been lamentable throughout the match (Watson/Hussey excepted).

Really, our middle order is carrying too many passengers. North and Ponting have become liabilities. While we obviously can't remove Ponting, we can easily boot North. This Australian batting lineup is also too reliant on a strong opening stand. If we don't get that, we crumble far too easily.

Kudos to Pakistan for bowling well, but really, Australia's position is mostly their fault.

We also need to manage our bowlers better, so we don't end up with lengthy injury lists.

I hope this doesn't sound like I'm dissing Pakistan, because they have put up a fantastic performance, but....

just to put things in perspective, when was the last time Australia lost a home test to a weaker side?

because let's be real here- on paper Pakistan have a woeful top 6 apart from one guy and a 19 year old playing his 4th test, and the bowling attack has one good seamer, one ok seamer, one ok spinner, and one awful seamer- plus the complete lack of other bowling options.

It's an incredible indication of Australia's slide if they lose to this team.

Almost lost to us bar an inexperienced bowling attack.

Another quality outing for our middle order. Dont rater Hussey's innings too highly either, dropped 15 times and shut up shop in the 50s when we needed to get moving to build the lead.
