Molehill hates McAndrew because he apparently didn't do well enough for Sussex, despite him doing orders of magnitude better than any of the homegrown "talent" they have

And no, I don't count Robinson as Sussex homegrown. Moot point as he hardly played due to being unfit and lazy anyway
Nah, I don't hate McAndrew. He put in an honest shift (31 wickets in 7 matches at 24), but he just never struck me as Test quality. Fully aware he's better than our normal quicks, that's why he was signed. I hate Head though, absolute ****.

Robinson took 20 wickets in 3 matches at 13!!

How many of these bowlers will be in 1st Test as they are very inexperienced? Ahmed has 6 Tests, Hamza 3 and Shahzad and Jamal none.
Well Abrar was their highest wicket taker in two of the three series he's played. Nauman had a better performance in Sri Lanka and might get selected on that, but not a certain thing. As for the fast bowlers, Hasan's got expeirnace but is crap, and the only other option is Wasim Jr. who's as inexperienced as anyone playing.

I guess I have to learn both names of bowlers as I don't understand any of that. It was a legitimate question I asked as 2 Pak PM XI bowlers never played tests. Was wondering how many they held back other than Shaheen Afridi?

Abrar ahmed is the leg spinner they played here. He's taken a few wickets in the test's he's played on some flat decks. Nauman ali is another spinner who use to be there first choice guy but fell off when AUS toured a few years ago. Hasan is hasan ali, he's a skiddy ~135 right arm pacer who reverses the ball a bit. Mohammad wasim JR is a t20 pacer who's played next to no FC cricket but is in the squad for some reason. None of them are set up for success in australia and I don't think they have the experience/adapatability to find a way around that vs a good batting lineup like we have.

Who was the last Aussie batsmen who consistently dominated the domestic level but was mediocre at international level? Honestly seems like green is heading down that route.

I think Green will come good, just seems like a mindset thing with him. Needs to play a little less cricket imo

Also - the answer to your question is Marcus Harris lol (however I realise mediocre is a significant upgrade on how he actually is)

I actually think "consistently dominated at domestic level" overstates Harris a bit too, especially once you look at his record outside Junction Oval.

The Marsh brothers and Peter Handscomb were/are very good domestic bats who didn't make the step up, but like Harris weren't really dominant domestically in the way Green is. I think the answer might be Phil Hughes.

Yeah a lot depends on how you define dominate. The thing with Green is that apart from Pucovski you’d have to go back to Hughes/Smith/Khawaja to find domestic bats as good as he is. If you discount Hughes on the grounds of his premature death, then the answer is probably Watson. There’s also Cartwright but he only played two Tests.

Is Mitch Marsh’s Shield record even that impressive though? Even Handscomb’s isn’t that special.

What evidence is there of this?
That green dominates domestic level and goes back to being mediocre at international level? He smashed the ball everywhere in the IPL, couldnt buy a run in the ashes/wtc and the games around the world cup, then went back to shield cricket and made 97 for WA straight away, and looks set for a fairly big score here. I really like green but his batting returns haven't lived up to the level of talent he's shown. He's still very young, so maybe hey'll figure it out and put some consistency together.

We all agreed he was doing absolutely fine until the Ashes. It's one bad series, that's not enough to write off his career.

Convinced that Green’s issue is mental

He’ll be far more successful in tests when he starts backing his own ability
Yeah I agree. Even during that bad patch around the wc/ashes he didn't look out of form to me, I honestly thought he looked pretty good, particularly in that 1st ashes test. Just kept on having brain fades after getting in.
